Position Summary
The Retail Consumer Analytics team is playing a key role in transforming healthcare and driving improved consumer experience by collaborating with key business areas across CVS Health to deliver impactful analytic solutions and insights.
As a member of the Analytics & Behavior Change Pricing Analytics team, you will be at the forefront of delivering high-visibility analytic projects for key CVS Retail strategic priorities. Specifically, you will have the opportunity to drive revenue and customer satisfaction in CVS Health's Front Store business by utilizing advanced analytic solutions to enhance merchandising and category promotion decisions. We are a fast-paced team focused on building innovative analytic solutions using AI/ML and cloud capabilities.
As the Director, Data Science you will be expected to collaborate with data engineering and business partners to build advanced AI models, optimization solutions, and recommendation engines using best-in-class cloud and AI platforms. You will be responsible for solving complex problems with the help of advanced analytical tools and solutions, ultimately improving the customer experience while balancing financial goals. We are seeking talented individuals who have a strong sense of ownership, accountability, and a desire to deliver high quality end to end intuitive and impactful analytic products using advanced data driven approaches.
Responsibilities
- Engage with business stakeholders to understand the fundamental challenges associated with planning and optimizing thousands of promotion events annually.
- Design and build both standard and advanced models, including econometric and machine learning-based approaches (e.g., elasticities, decision trees, random forest/XGBoost, graph neural networks, advanced forecasting, etc.), to achieve optimal outcomes for promotions.
- Lead a team of data scientists to achieve modeling goals, bring the best of the industry, and inspire innovation and efficient execution.
- Drive the development and implementation of best practices and standards for data analysis, modeling, and reporting within the analytics team.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Pricing, Personalization, Merchandising, and Finance, to understand business objectives and align promotional strategies with organizational goals.
- Join forces with the Data Engineering team to ensure the availability and integrity of data required for promotional analytics, ML ops for deployment, and identify opportunities for data integration, automation, and augmentation.
- Communicate complex analytical concepts and findings to non-technical stakeholders in a clear and concise manner and provide actionable recommendations for improving promotional strategies. Provide strategic guidance and recommendations to senior management based on data-driven insights and analysis.
The target locations for this role are either Wellesley, MA, NYC area or in the northeast with monthly site travel, we are not looking to hire purely remote workers at this time.
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years of progressive experience in developing standard and advanced ML modeling techniques (e.g., Elasticities, Regression Models, Decision Trees, Neural Networks, Temporal Fusion Transformer etc.)
- 5+ years of coding in SQL, Python or similar.
- 5+ years of experience of end-to-end model development from ideation through solutions development and deployment/monitoring.
- 3+ years leading a team either directly or indirectly
- 7+ years of experience in member, retail, consumer, promotion, or campaign analytics
Preferred Qualifications
- 10+ years of end-to-end experience leading model development in a retail context including pricing, promotions, campaigns, upsell, cross sell etc. through scaling to enterprise level
- Player coach that enjoys creating scale-able products alongside the team
- Strong ability to consult with the business and senior leadership to drive success and build relationships
- Understanding of merchandising or category management
Education
Advanced degree in any quantitative field required (Economics, Statistics , Science & Engineering)
PHD in any quantitative field required (Economics, Statistics , Science & Engineering) preferred
Pay Range
The typical pay range for this role is: $144,200.00 - $288,400.00
This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above. This position also includes an award target in the company’s equity award program.
