King & Spalding, a leading global law firm, is seeking a Lateral Recruiting Manager. This position will support firmwide recruiting by providing strategic direction and execution for lateral associate, counsel, and judicial clerkship recruiting.
The Manager will work in collaboration with practice group leadership, senior staff, and other stakeholders to identify hiring needs and ensure our recruiting programs and the talent pipeline are world-class. The primary focus is on associate and counsel recruiting, although because lawyer recruiting, professional development, pro bono, and diversity/inclusion are under the same umbrella at King & Spalding, there are opportunities to work with colleagues in all those areas on new and continuing initiatives.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lateral Associate and Counsel Hiring
- Understand the practices, client expectations, and performance standards in order to lead strategic hiring initiatives.
- Provide top-notch recruiting experience from start to finish, from initial touchpoint to offer acceptance and onboarding.
- Source lateral candidates through various methods including associate referrals and search firms when necessary.
- Work with the recruiting team to review candidate resumes, coordinate interview schedules, and assess interview evaluations.
- Serve as firm liaison for candidates.
- Review, analyze, and prepare business case for hiring.
- Prepare offer packages and welcome letters.
Other
- Work collaboratively and strategically alongside professional development, diversity, and other departments to identify, recruit, and retain talent.
- Be a Firm ambassador to help raise the profile of King & Spalding in the market.
- Participate in firm-wide Recruiting initiatives.
- Keep abreast of key market issues and trends; track information and analyze competitive data, best practices, and trends to make recommendations to adopt when appropriate.
- Develop and maintain Recruiting budgets.
SKILLS AND APTITUDE REQUIRED:

- Knowledge of law firm business model principles and legal industry trends and challenges.

- Excellent communications (written and oral) and interpersonal skills with lawyers, all levels of administrative staff, and contacts outside the firm.
- Sophisticated analytical and quantitative abilities (e.g., able to collect and use data to make decisions, including ability to use tools such as Excel at a high level).
- Strong judgment and ability to respect, protect, and maintain highly confidential and sensitive information.
- Excellent collaboration, facilitation, influencing, and organizational skills, with the ability to work proactively to obtain information and develop the consensus needed to make decisions.
- Strong attention to detail combined with ability to develop big-picture goals.
- Able to prioritize and manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously without frequent prompting.
- Able to work under tight deadlines and maintain poise under pressure.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
J.D. is preferred, and at least 4+ years of experience in a recruiting or professional development role in a law firm. Candidates without a J.D. will be considered if they have an undergraduate degree and at least 4 years’ experience in a similar role in a professional services firm. Candidates without professional development/talent management experience will be considered if they have a J.D. and at least 5 years’ experience as a practicing lawyer in a law firm.
