Position Description
Kinder Morgan CO 2 Company, as one of the largest CO 2 providers and CO 2 tertiary recovery companies in the US, is seeking a reservoir engineer to work within the Yates development team to plan and develop new methods for both extending the field life and for optimizing the on-going development in Yates field, Permian Basin. The selected candidate will be responsible for:
- Leading IOR/EOR development opportunities in the Yates field, in the CO 2 Gas Assisted Gas Oil Gravity Drainage area and waterflood areas which includes both main pay and transition zone opportunities. This will include maturing projects through identify, feasibility, concept select, project sanctioning, and support during execution;
- Defining, justifying and executing relevant laboratory programs, either with university or service companies, for IOR/EOR methods identified;
- Developing or working with previously developed reservoir simulation models to history match and forecast recovery for different development concepts, including different secondary and tertiary recovery methods such as, but not limited to, immiscible, miscible, chemical (surfactant, low salinity, polymer, foam), and thermal IOR/EOR for GOGD and waterflood areas;
- Conducting reservoir performance analysis for on-going development projects;
- Creating and managing workplans and conducting economics evaluations as needed for on-going and new development projects;
- Interfacing with Yates production, facilities, drilling, and operations engineers during design, implementation and management of Yates development projects;
- Interfacing with G&G staff including geologists, petrophysicists and geophysicists on geomodel development.
Position Requirements
- BS or greater in Petroleum Engineering or other related engineering discipline;
- 7+ years of experience as a reservoir engineer in the oil and gas industry. Capable of working independently, but also very active and effective working in a team environment;
- Demonstrated ability to proficiently use and/or learn petroleum software such as CMG, MORE, Petra, DSS, OFM, Aries, Kappa, Spotfire, MBAL, and PROSPER;
- Significant experience with design, implementation, and surveillance of waterfloods and/or CO 2 floods, production/injection forecasting, reserves reporting;
- Significant experience with reservoir simulation of primary, secondary and tertiary recovery methods for single and dual poro/perm systems;
- High proficiency with MS-Office applications: Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint with preference given for VBA, C++, or other coding language proficiency or experience;
- A proven track record working effectively within a multi-disciplined development team;
- An objective and analytical approach, with a solid command of E&P project economics;
- A clear thinker, concise and effective communicator, and a preferred teammate;
- Must be able to work with a team, take direction from supervisor(s) and lead personnel, focus attention on details, follow work rules, and adhere to established work schedules.
