Jacksonville University seeks a dynamic, distinguished executive to serve as its next Director, Financial Management. The Director, Financial Management is responsible for supporting the success of the Jacksonville University community through the strategic management of university resources, administration of treasury functions, risk management, and financial analysis.

Duties/Responsibilities
- The successful Director, Financial Management candidate will:
- Support the Chief Financial Officer in leading, developing, and monitoring University multi-year financial plans and capital budgets, while continuously recommending improvements to the current planning and budget processes.
- Recommend strategies that enhance financial reporting and financial management, including cost avoidance, cost savings, and revenue enhancements for the University.
- Provide support, guidance, and training to administrative and academic leaders, financial staff, and business staff as directed; effectively engage people not directly under his/her supervision to enact solutions.
- Support strategic data-driven and informed decision-making throughout the University by focusing on analytics that improve resource management activities, while optimizing financial returns, and ensuring financial sustainability.
- Work with departmental budget liaisons and finance staff to understand micro and macro business needs and apply that knowledge to the development of the new budget model; raise issues and complete analysis and documentation that clearly explains those issues to the Chief Financial Officer; research, report and advocate for best practices.
- Provide relevant cash analysis and ensure that sufficient funds are available to meet ongoing operational and capital investment requirements. Establish efficient cash and liquidity reporting capabilities to monitor compliance with policy, debt covenants, and relevant laws and higher education requirements.
- Coordinate University banking and investment activities, administer portals and operations, and serve as a liaison to various financial institutions and investment managers.
- Working with the Controller, ensure bank reconciliations are completed in a timely manner, no later than the end of the subsequent accounting period.
- Collaborate with the accounting and financial leadership teams to compile information for and prepare various reports required by bondholders, accrediting bodies, and governing bodies (i.e., federal government, state government, NCAA, etc.).
- Oversee risk management opportunities for the University, including facilities risk, financial risk, and compliance risk. Coordinate as necessary with the Chief Financial Officer and/or University liaison to FICURMA.
- Lead and supervise team members to include, but not limited to, coaching, mentoring, performance evaluations, and delegation.
- Represent the Chief Financial Officer at meetings as assigned.
- Participate in or lead various accounting, finance, treasury, and business initiatives and meetings as assigned.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities
- Financial experience in nonprofit higher education, nonprofit organizations, educational organizations, government, or government agencies.
Education, Certificates, Licenses, & Experience
Master's degree in accounting, finance, business, or a relevant field, with eight years of relevant experience.
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business, or a relevant field, with twelve years of relevant experience in lieu of a Master's degree.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to lift and carry equipment and supplies weighing up to 20 pounds.
- Must be able to bend, stoop, and reach.
- Manual dexterity to efficiently operate a computer keyboard and other business machines.
- Adequate hearing to communicate effectively in person and by phone.
