Position Summary:
As a Director of Manufacturing, you will manage the Production area in order to maintain a high level of performance while producing quality products in a timely, consistent manner.
Position Responsibilities:
- Manage and monitor workload of Production employees.
- Strive to reduce expenses and increase productivity across all product lines.
- Interpret specifications, job orders, company policies and appropriate SOPs for Production employees and processes.
- Enforce GMP, safety, and sanitation regulations.
- Implement Lean theory or similar systems for organization and operations.
- Recommend and implement measures to motivate employees and to improve production methods, equipment performance, product quality, or efficiency.
- Conduct personnel actions such as hiring, promotion, and termination.
- Ensure uptime of equipment through management of production mechanics.
- Ensure all production documents are clear, accurate, and complete.
- Conduct and review yearly and quarterly performance reviews of direct and indirect reports in the Production Department.
- Confer with other supervisors/managers to coordinate operations and activities within or between departments.
- Provide guidance and direction to subordinates, including setting performance standards and monitoring performance.
- Obtain information through observation and relevant sources.
- Calculate labor and equipment requirements using standard formulas.
- Review and update current and future Production SOPs.
- Create, monitor, and manage metrics approved by upper management.
- Produce products to schedule and ensure the highest quality.
- Develop actionable plans to increase capacity according to business needs.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree or relevant industry experience.
- 5 years of experience in manufacturing management.
- Understand written and spoken information in work-related documents, trainings, and daily operations.
- The ability to organize and motivate employees.
- Knowledge of statistics and their application.
- Working knowledge of Lean/Six Sigma and production theory.
- Ability to take initiative and work independently within a collaborative group environment.
- Multi-shift production management experience.
- Experience directing employees in a high-paced environment.
- Critical thinking skills.
- Ability to communicate information and ideas effectively.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Able to work with a diverse group of people.
- Strong team player, friendly, patient, self-motivated.
- Strong supervisory skills.
- Professional appearance and manner.
