About the role
The Corporate Accounting team is responsible for the USGAAP and IFRS accounting compliance for all corporate entities, exploration joint ventures, and other corporate-related transactions and functions within the Peabody Australia group, including SG&A, invoicing, and lease accounting. Team members are responsible for the timely delivery of results in an accurate manner to assist business stakeholders in decision-making and must ensure compliance with all SEC and ASIC statutory requirements, joint venture reporting requirements, and internal controls.
As the most senior member of the Corporate Accounting team, the Senior Manager Corporate Accounting is responsible for managing the workload and output of the Corporate Accounting team and ensuring financial results are delivered to key stakeholders in a timely and accurate manner.
Other responsibilities include:
- Accountable for the financial integrity of the general ledgers and accounting records for various corporate and exploration entities within the Peabody Australia group, as well as SG&A and lease accounting processes.
- Responsible for all work associated with month, quarter, and year-end close accounting and reporting for the Corporate Accounting team as well as ensuring all team deliverables and deadlines are met.
- Responsible for coordinating the Australian month-end close process including liaising with the US, issuing timetables, escalating issues to management.
- Ensure compliance with USGAAP and IFRS accounting standards as well as all SOX and internal controls for the Corporate Accounting team.
- Ad-hoc accounting items including but not limited to impairment analysis, financial reporting, accounting for complex transactions, research and application of accounting standards as well as preparation of technical accounting analysis and documentation as necessary.
- Responsible for managing monthly external exploration joint venture reporting, cash call requirements, and ad-hoc requests.
- Coordinate the external audit process including acting as a contact for the Australian finance team.
- Provide support to the VP Financial Accounting as required.
- Provide strong leadership and mentoring to direct reports, ensuring their professional development and engagement within the organization.
- Proactively manage own development including ensuring technical training requirements are maintained and current.

This position is offered on a Monday to Friday basis, working from our Fortitude Valley office with working from home options. Peabody offers flexible start/finish times and a 'redistributed working week' giving employees flexibility to finish at noon on Fridays.
About you:
- Bachelor Degree in Business/Commerce/Accounting
- Qualified Chartered Accountant (CA) or Certified Practicing Accountant (CPA)
- 15+ years proven experience working in the industry or chartered accounting with industry experience
- Mining and resources experience highly preferred
- Experience in accounting for and extensive understanding of foreign exchange, reporting in multiple currencies, realized and unrealized foreign exchange
- Experience complying with internal controls and SOX requirements
- Technical understanding of both USGAAP and IFRS accounting standards, particularly as they relate to the resources industry
- Experience in preparing or reviewing General Purpose Financial Statements – Simplified Disclosure (Tier 2)
- Strong SAP and Excel skills
- Experience working with internal and external auditors as well as managing external audit timelines and deliverables
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational strengths
