Reporting to the Controller, the Senior Financial Analyst will support various aspects of our financial management processes and cycles including, but not limited to, financial variance analyses, budgeting & forecasting, grant accounting and reporting, monthly close responsibilities, financial reporting, and ad hoc analyses. Requires cross departmental collaboration throughout the organization. Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, the annual financial audit, tax returns and other regulatory filings as needed. Ensure transactions are in accordance with GAAP and internal policies and controls are followed; communicate exceptions to management.
This position will have a hybrid work arrangement with work from home 2 days per week; 3 days per week in GSEMA’s Andover, MA office; occasional work days in GSEMA’s Waltham office, or as directed.
Explore Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze, investigate, and resolve monthly actual to budget variances
- Track donation revenues utilizing various software platforms, and manage reporting obligations
- Document and account for donor restrictions with the Fund Development Team
- Complete daily and monthly accounting entries accurately and timely
- Reconcile and analyze general ledger accounts; prepare correcting entries
- Prepare monthly financial and statistical reports, including key performance indicators
- Manage supervision, accounting, and reporting of federal, state, and private grants
- Assist in the development and management of the annual budget
- Assist with audit preparation
- Adhere to internal financial controls and policies
- Assist with business process mapping, documentation and standardization
- Support Finance team key activities/functions in backup coverage roles as needed
Essential Skills and Qualifications:
- Five years of payroll experience; familiarity with ADP Workforce Now is highly desired
- At least two years of accounting experience; college-level accounting courses are a plus
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word); experience with Bill.com is ideal
- Self-motivated with a willingness to learn new skills, processes and software
- High attention to detail, demonstrating accuracy and thoroughness
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both orally and written
- Capable of planning, organizing, and prioritizing work independently and collaboratively, while managing competing priorities
- Effective problem-solving skills
