Indiana University School of Medicine and IU Health Physicians is seeking a burn and general plastics surgeon to join our growing faculty. The ideal candidate will be primarily interested in a pediatric and adult burn practice, while capable to support general plastic surgery reconstructive services. The position involves an ideal mixture of pediatric and adult burn surgery at two Level 1 trauma centers. Appointment on the clinical or tenure track and level to be determined by qualifications and experience.Our faculty work in clinical environments and on research activities to help improve patient care and teach the next generation of plastic surgeons.
TheRichard M. Fairbanks Burn Center at Eskenazi Hospitalis the only adult burn program in Indiana verified by the American Burn Association.The Eskenazi burn unit houses a 15-bed inpatient burn unit, all beds with ICU capabilities, in addition to private burn operating rooms, procedure rooms, multi-disciplinary ancillary services, and the outpatient clinic. There are over 300 admissions and over 3,100 outpatient burns seen annually, with over 900 unique burn patients. The burn team manages burn resuscitations, inhalation injuries, burn physiology derangements, wound care, and surgical debridement and wound closure for acute burn patients.In addition, burn reconstruction includes laser scar therapy, scar revision, and flap reconstruction.
TheSpeedway Burn Unit at Riley Hospital for Childrenis the only pediatric burn program in Indiana verified by the American Burn Association.Our Riley burn unit houses a 10-bed burn unit within walking distance from the adult hospital. There are over 170 admissions, and the dedicated Riley Burn clinic sees approximately 2,400 burn outpatient per year with more than 700 unique patient visits. There are dedicated advanced practice providers to assist with daily patient care, outpatient evaluations, and coordinating burn reconstructions. The burn team, with assistance from the PICU services, manages all medical aspects of acute burn care along with the surgical debridements, wound closures, and reconstructive procedures.In addition, burn reconstruction includes laser scar therapy, scar revision, and flap reconstruction.
Qualifications:
- MD or DO
- BC/BE inPlastic Surgery, Completed fellowship in burn surgery
- Critical Care fellowship recommended but not mandatory
- Interest in educating residents, fellows and research
- Eligible for licensure inIndiana
