PRIMARY FUNCTION:
To maximize company profits and effectiveness, while maintaining the integrity of its financial representation through the development, supervision and administration of accounting areas.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Management
- Leads a team of 4/5 non-supervisory professionals.
- Responsible for managing, training, and mentoring a team of accountants, ensuring their productivity while also fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
Risk Mitigation & Internal Control
- Monitors ledger accounts and reconciliations related to Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll & Fixed Assets.
- Administers the corporate retention policy for the safe keeping of all accounting documents and support.
- Monitors employee compliance with accounting policies; specifically, expense reporting.
Cash Management and Banking
- Overseeing daily transactions and approving daily accounts payables and payroll-related disbursements from and between bank accounts.
- Maintains user security and access to banking portal and related modules for all of Finance.
- Assists in employee corporate credit card user maintenance.
Accounting Operations & Processes
- Directs the accurate and timely accumulation and recording of all financial transactional data, including assets, liabilities, revenues and expenses.
- Establishes and maintains processes and procedures which ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
- Develops and leads accounting initiatives that create operational efficiencies, improve communications and decision-making and strengthen financial reporting and controls.
- Collaborates extensively with Operations Managers to support their strategic business plans with financial systems, meaningful reporting and administrative processes.
- Responsible for lease and revenue recognition accounting standards.
Budgeting
- Coordinates with operational Managers and prepares worksheets for annual budget.
- Maintains the methodology and tools to import budget data into the accounting system.
- Responsible for calculating allocation percentages and creation of allocations for budget.
- Maintains budget consolidation and summary reporting for management and CFO.
Forecasting
- Maintains the process for the Cash Forecast and oversees day to day.
- Maintains the process for the Financial Forecast and updates monthly.
- Maintains the process for the Inventory Forecast and oversees month to month.
Reporting
- Responsible for the monthly financial statement review typically split between Machine Sales, Rental, Parts & Service, Indirect Expenses and Other Income and expense.
- Leads Month-end and year-end close process, including allocation and other closing entries.
- Prepares internal accounting reports ensuring they accurately reflect the financial operation of the company and each division, store, department and cost center of the company and its parent and subsidiaries.
- Prepares external accounting reports for OEM providers and Banking partners, including Balance Sheet, Income Statement and Statement of Cash Flows.
- Prepares other regular Compliance reports for banking covenants or other reporting requirements.
Compliance
- Maintains expertise in U.S. GAAP accounting and ensures that new accounting guidance is considered and implemented in a timely manner.
Other Accounting functions
- Assists with monitoring compliance with company-wide accounting policies and procedures.
- Assists in year-end closing and audits.
- Mentor and train members of the Finance department on various areas related to job functions.
- Other functions and tasks as assigned by management.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education:
A four-year Accounting degree or a four-year Business Administration Degree with concentration in Accounting. A current and active Certified Public Accountant license.
Work Experience:
A minimum of six years of related accounting or auditing experience.
Technology:
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Advanced Excel & basic Power BI.
- Understanding of ERP Systems; Microsoft Dynamics AX a plus.
Physical:
- Ability to sit for long periods of time.
- Ability to see (regularly or corrective) CRT and small print ledger information.
Other:
- Excellent presentation and communications skills; Detail-oriented and organized.
- Ability to meet a constant stream of deadlines.
- Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively with different levels of employees.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
