Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Senior Analyst - Clinical Ancillary Systems. In this role, the successful Sr. Systems Analyst will review business goals and determine the technical, lab workflow requirements for assigned platform of applications for Molecular Lab. This work will require a detailed understanding of the clinical, education and research workflows at NYU Langone. Perform basic maintenance on laboratory computational equipment. Coordinate all IT hardware or software changes and adhere to MCIT Change Management Control. The Sr. Systems Analyst Genomics/Bioinformatics Analyst works with team members to review IT infrastructure requirements, review security requirements, understand network requirements of a new/ future instruments and determine integration details to NYU's Laboratory Information System (LIS) such as LabVantage and EPIC Beaker.
Job Responsibilities:
- Previous working experience in a clinical cancer diagnosis is a plus.
- Programming skills including scripting in Python, Perl, R, C++, Java, MySQL, NOSQL.
- Thorough understanding of Windows, Citrix, Unix and Linux system management, resource management within cluster configuration management.
- Experience in the hardware selection and implementation for high performing computing.
- Thorough understanding of networks and troubleshooting high performance computing systems.
- Proficiency using next-generation sequencing data analysis tools such as BWA and GATK.
- Familiarity with commonly used algorithms for alignment and variant calling.
- Strong Analytical skills. Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) required. Strong statistical understanding.
- Implement and execute computation analysis of cancer genomes, high-throughput sequencing datasets, genomic profiling datasets and other sequencing and array based analysis.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Additional Position Specific Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain in-house next-generation sequencing data analysis software and applications. Coordinate with genomic laboratory service technical staff to optimize and validate the NGS softwares and applications. Responsible for the new novel software protocol implementation. Responsible for the integration with external database. Integrate publicly accessible, commercial, or proprietary genomic or post genomic databases. Create and modify web-based and open source bioinformatics tools to support in-house NGS Data analysis. Test new and updated bioinformatics tools and softwares.
Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Typically requires 4 or more years of experience and BA/BS degree or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications:
Must possess excellent computer and networking knowledge. Must be a motivated individual - willing to continually learn new responsibilities. Must possess knowledge of Radiation Oncology, Labs, Patient Transport, Cardiology, Dermpath and glucometers. Exhibit good communication (both written and oral) skills, in order to open tickets and changes, and keep good communications with users. Exhibit the ability to troubleshoot various technical issues in various Ancillary environments, including interfacing with vendor technical support as needed. Maintain professional disposition at all times.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $73,770.80 - $92,548.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
