Job Purpose:
Our Food Solutions Director will be responsible for developing unique solutions that differentiate Veritiv in the marketplace while driving profitable consumable sales with our customer base and executing the sales and product strategy for the food packaging segment. This role will lead a sales specialist team while providing strategic and technical sales support for the commercial organization.
Job Responsibilities:
- Lead a team of Food Specialists to ensure sales growth that meets/exceeds the organization's sales and profit targets and has overall responsibility for attracting, developing and retaining top sales talent and establishing mentor relationships with key sales talent to ensure talent development and retention.
- Develop and execute strategies that support the growth of the Food/ Cold Storage segment and has strong analytical expertise and responsibility for shaping the organization’s go-to-market strategy.
- Collaborate with Category Management specific to developing strategic vendor relationships. The role requires joint relationship responsibility at high levels of identified strategic suppliers that align with the strategy for Direct Food Contact growth.
- Ability and agility to adjust and adapt the strategy based on market and organizational changes.
- Develop and conduct training programs and tools for Sales Professionals that are specific to the assigned product category. Support tools include ongoing monthly cohort meetings and relevant content.
- Build effective relationships at all levels of the organization and utilize a collaborative approach with internal team members and other functional areas within the company by soliciting direct feedback.
- Collaborate with Marketing for development of lead generation and supply that aligns with Direct Food Contact (DFC) strategy with a focus on SOW in current customers.
- Collaborate with internal financial partners for the development and supply of relevant sales reporting tools that help the Food Specialists and commercial team better understand DFC growth and opportunities.
- Collaborate with Design Network, marketing, Sourcing and Supply Chain to develop, source and specific products and services.
- Coordinate participation in appropriate organizations and tradeshows. Likewise, specialist training, national sales conferences, and other such meetings. Represent Veritiv within the industry.
- Present strategic updates to Sr Leadership team.
Additional Responsibilities & Qualifications:
- Must be an effective, proven, collaborative leader with an ownership mindset who is able to develop and articulate a compelling vision for the organization that will result in above market sales growth.
- 10-15 years of industry experience with extensive product and service knowledge related to the specification and sale of flexible and rigid Food Packaging solutions.
- Experience at selling at the “C” suite level of organizations.
- Up to 50% travel required.
Work Experience:
- 10-15 years of related job experience.
- 5-10 years of related experience of successful supervisory/management experience required to motivate and develop direct reports, as well as size up new talent.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, work under pressure, and adapt to sudden changes in the work environment.
- Ability to work quickly and efficiently.
- Excellent verbal, written, people, and diplomacy skills are required.
- Experienced in providing leadership to others regarding work related systems, processes, and challenges.
- Experienced in strategic management and leadership across company functions directing substantial resources over long time frames.
- Experience of interpreting strategy and policy in order to set and deliver objectives.
- Experience of planning, managing and organizing resources within short/medium timescales within the overall policy framework.
- Experience with Salesforce.com or other CRM is preferred.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong customer service skills (friendly, courteous and helpful).
- Strong planning and organization skills are required.
Education:
- Bachelor's Degree Preferred
Physical Requirements:
- A significant portion of the job responsibilities will require computer work that involves the continuous use of the fingers, hands, wrists, and sitting for long periods of time.
- The position also requires frequent lifting and/or moving up to 10 pounds.
- The position requires work in an office as well as travel to customers, suppliers, group meetings, etc.
