As a Senior Consultant, you'll lead the research, design, development, curation, and implementation of enterprise learning strategies of significant size and scope that support core, common, consistent learning programs across all Nationwide companies. You may have opportunities to provide ongoing leadership development, consultation, delivery and learning solutions for executive leadership and their teams in support of organizational goals and objectives. We'll count on you to demonstrate the expertise, autonomy and authority to develop robust, whole system solutions for the enterprise.
Key Responsibilities:
- Creates the strategic implementation priorities and initiatives for success of enterprise-wide learning solutions, ensuring consistency with the learning vision, organization-wide needs, company goals and strategies. Leads the implementation of all training and learning activities required to meet the goals of assigned strategic learning initiatives.
- Provides subject matter expertise in designing and developing evaluation tools, methodologies and metrics and ensures evaluation takes place. Evaluates ongoing viability of current and new learning initiatives and ensures alignment with strategic intent, organization needs and corporate strategy.
- Creates solution strategies for meeting anticipated strategic enterprise-wide learning needs based upon corporate and learning vision. Researches and designs or may lead teams in the design and development of solutions/curriculum including leadership development strategies. Works across functional and organizational boundaries in the development and delivery of learning requirements.
- Partners and consults with executive leadership teams to evaluate strategic and integrated business planning tools to determine impact of learning strategies on organizational effectiveness and company results.
- Markets, educates and communicates about resources, initiatives and curriculum. Responsible for coordination and branding of all enterprise-wide training and learning activities.
- Partners with executive and business leaders across the enterprise to diagnose needs and identify strategic learning or related projects and recommend appropriate actions. Collaborates with peers to ensure development of robust, thorough and consistent solutions. Secures sponsors and participates in projects by identifying trends, strategy or resources to impact the project or company.
- Oversees the implementation of strategic solutions that have been developed to ensure consistent enterprise-wide operationalization. May implement or lead teams of business and learning and performance associates to ensure solution adoption.
- Provides ongoing consulting support and conducts leadership education for executive level associates, supporting business needs.
May perform other responsibilities as assigned.
Reporting Relationships: Reports to Director, Associate Vice President or Vice President of Learning & Performance.
Typical Skills and Experiences:
Education: Undergraduate degree preferred, with emphasis in business, education, psychology or related subject area desired. Advanced studies in instructional technology, management, organization development or the behavioral sciences leading to a master's or doctorate degree preferred.
License/Certification/Designation: Professional certification, such as the Certified Professional in Learning and Performance (CPLP), strongly preferred. In some business units, there may be additional regulatory requirements for specific certifications, e.g., FINRA series in Nationwide Financial or progress toward technical designation, such as CPCU or equivalent designation.
Associates must acquire all required federal and/or state licenses/registrations within the time period designated by the business unit. Additional licenses/registrations may be required when new products and services are implemented. If an associate fails to acquire required licenses/registrations within the designated time period, the associate will be ineligible to continue in the position.
Experience: Typically, ten or more years of proven experience in learning technologies technical and professional instructional design. Technical insurance industry experience desired in addition to professional learning and development experience. Strong facilitation and change management experience required.
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Knowledge of behavioral and organization development concepts. Must have broad technical expertise in analysis, design, development and implementation of learning solutions. Strong planning, organizing, leading and process management knowledge required. Knowledge of current policies, practices and trends affecting the business and organization. Able to present and articulate ideas and plans and build organizational momentum behind strategies. Strong organizational savvy, relationship building skills and consulting ability. Ability to set work priorities and effectively use resources to evaluate and apply problem solving methodology and critical thinking to make sound decisions. Strong leadership, team development and motivation skills required.
Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence.

Nationwide pays on a geographic-specific salary structure and placement within the actual starting salary range for this position will be determined by a number of factors including the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; the scope, complexity and location of the role as well as the cost of labor in the market; and other conditions of employment. If a Sales job, Sales Incentives, based on performance goals are possible in addition to this range.
The national salary range for Sr Consultant, Learning & Performance: $95,000.00-$182,000.00
The expected starting salary range for Sr Consultant, Learning & Performance: $103,000.00 - $155,000.00
