The Louisiana Department of Revenue (LDR) is responsible for fairly and efficiently collecting state tax revenues to fund public services, to regulate charitable gaming and the sale of alcoholic beverage and tobacco, and to support state agencies in the collection of overdue debts. Collectively, each program, unit, division and group work together to provide the core services to taxpayers of the State of Louisiana and stakeholders of the agency. LDR is comprised of the following groups: Tax Collection, Charitable Gaming, Alcohol and Tobacco Control (ATC), Debt Recovery, and Louisiana Tax Free Shopping Commission.The Business Tax Enforcement Division collects delinquent business taxes, majority of which are through levies, payment plans and pursuing officer liabilities. We work all business tax correspondence and email inquiries. Our division facilitates the collection of sales tax of all special events, such as fairs and festivals, throughout the state. We have a team of officers doing business tax inspections on businesses with alcohol permits. Recently, we teamed up with the Department of Wildlife and Fisheries and we have a representative at their location to assist customers and collect the sales tax on their boat purchases. ABOUT THIS POSITION
The incumbent in this position will be responsible for:
- Provides training to new tax officers across multiple divisions under Group I
- Collaborate with the division management team to identify training needs and schedule appropriate training sessions for employees
- Provides specific training in areas of new development or processes
- Collect final and non-appealable liabilities by contacting the taxpayer, facilitating installment agreements, levying bank accounts, garnishing wages, filing tax liens, seizing property, recommending license revocation, executing cease and desist and pursuit of responsible officer requests.
- Performs multiple testing studies, tasks and assignments when needed on new procedures
- Uses his/her knowledge of all the business and collection processes and ensure issues discovered in testing are escalated appropriately and re-test activities are performed to confirm corrections
- Tracks projects and tasks to ensure they are completed by or prior to deadlines.

A Tax and Natural Disaster Clearance will be conducted on all selected applicants to validate the timely submission of tax returns and payments. It is a requirement that all Revenue employees must adhere to all tax laws of the State of Louisiana.
LA R.S.15:587.5, 587.6 and the IRS require the Louisiana Department of Revenue to conduct a criminal history records check of a prospective employee who will access federal tax information to perform job duties. Any applicant who receives and accepts a conditional offer of employment will require a completed criminal history records check prior to his or her first day of work.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A baccalaureate degree plus three years of professional experience in administrative services, accounting, financial auditing, management analysis, tax enforcement, taxpayer assistance, tax collection, tax systems work, tax auditing, tax audit review, tax law, or tax accounting.
SUBSTITUTIONS:
Six years of full-time work experience in any field may be substituted for the required baccalaureate degree.
Candidates without a baccalaureate degree may combine work experience and college credit to substitute for the baccalaureate degree as follows:
A maximum of 120 semester hours may be combined with experience to substitute for the baccalaureate degree.
30 to 59 semester hours credit will substitute for one year of experience towards the baccalaureate degree.
60 to 89 semester hours credit will substitute for two years of experience towards the baccalaureate degree.
90 to 119 semester hours credit will substitute for three years of experience towards the baccalaureate degree.
120 or more semester hours credit will substitute for four years of experience towards the baccalaureate degree.
College credit earned without obtaining a baccalaureate degree may be substituted for a maximum of four years full-time work experience towards the baccalaureate degree. Candidates with 120 or more semester hours of credit, but without a degree, must also have at least two years of full-time work experience to substitute for the baccalaureate degree.
A master's degree in Business Administration (MBA) or Public Administration (MPA) will substitute for one year of the required experience.
Possession of designation as a Certified Public Accountant or CPA Inactive will substitute for one year of the required experience.
Possession of a current license to practice law in Louisiana will substitute for two years of the required experience.
NOTE: Any college hours or degree must be from an accredited college or university.
