Responsibilities
Nautilus Insurance has an exciting opportunity for a Consultant, Strategic Initiatives within the Strategic Operations & Solutions Group. The Consultant, Strategic Initiatives is responsible for supporting the Organizational Effectiveness Team and Project Management Office (PMO).

The Consultant role will rely heavily on influence to offer advice, information, insights, and recommendations in assisting the organization in achieving their objectives and resolving challenges. Additionally, this role collaborates with company leadership to develop supporting processes, policies, procedures, and rules. They will provide consultative support and identify optimization opportunities, with a ‘continuous improvement’ mindset.
Along with this, they will provide Project Management support of company initiatives to include management of teams through the project lifecycle (Inception – Closure).

- Acts as consultant on activities and functions relating to business process analysis, organizational analysis, needs assessments and cost/benefit analysis.
- Creates detailed process maps that adhere to agreed upon standards, format, and definitions.
- Executes clear, coherent and thorough approach to lead from problem statement to opportunity identification to solution resolution by applying process analysis, design & improvement methodologies.
- Leads various efforts evaluating processes and performing quantitative/qualitative analysis to recognize improvement opportunities.
- Designs process management protocols and coaches process owners on proactive management of processes.
- Coordinates collective feedback from business partners to create recommendations around people, process, and technology enhancements and quantifies benefits.
- Drives the facilitation/execution of workshops and co-creation sessions with key stakeholders.
- Monitors and communicates the results of process improvement projects/initiatives to management and the Executive Leadership Team.
- Serves as a consultant on all activities relating to business transformation through the strategic application of people, processes and technology.
- As a member of the Project Management Office, consultant will manage strategic projects from Inception through Closure, including the creation of all project management documentation, i.e., Charters, Status Reports, Risk/Issue Logs.
Qualifications
- 6+ years related insurance experience
- Team Player: Prior responsibility in overseeing teams of employees and motivating them to complete their job duties effectively.
- Executive presence: Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of Management.
- Strategic thinker: Experience in deliberate and careful anticipation of opportunities, vulnerabilities, risks and threats that may impact Nautilus Insurance.
- Relationship builder (up, sideways, down): This position requires the ability to establish relationships and lead upwards (Sr. Leadership) by behaving and communicating in a way that influences Sr. Leadership; sideways by influencing one’s peers; and, down by leading effectively and creating a relationship of mutual trust amongst those with whom you are influencing.
- Change Manager: Experience with and knowledge of change management principles, methodologies and tools. Will need to have a solid understanding of how people go through change and the change process.
- Analytical thinker: Has the ability to problem solve by analyzing processes, finding patterns, trends, outliers and leverage analysis in decision making process.
- Must have a strong customer service background working in a professional environment.
- Excess and Surplus lines background is preferred.
- Experience working with cross departmental teams.
- Prior experience working with Visio preferred.
- Project management experience preferable, but not required.
- Must have knowledge and basic proficiency of computer programs in a Windows environment, including Word, Excel and E-mail.
- Bachelor’s Degree required.
- APA, AIS, AAI, ASLI, CPCU, or other insurance related classes recommended.
