Summary:
The incumbent in this position is a senior clinician responsible for planning and implementing specific treatment programs for individual patients according to the principles and practices of Speech Language Pathology and collaborating with an interdisciplinary treatment team.
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct Speech Language Pathology services to patients in accordance with standards of practice; independently select reliable and valid assessment tools relevant to diagnosis; demonstrate progression of treatment plan; report on patient progress through appropriate written documentation; collaborate with physicians, patients, family, and other members of the health care team.
- Serve as a preceptor and mentor for new staff therapists, students, and rehabilitation aides.
- Assist in developing, interpreting, and reviewing policies and procedures of the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation department.
- Ability to meet physical and non-physical demands as outlined in the job description.
- Assume other duties and responsibilities appropriate to the position.
How You’ll Be Successful:
WORK EXPERIENCE
- At least 3 years previous Speech Language Pathology experience required.
- Two years of acute care experience and one year of pediatric experience preferred or vice versa.
- Acute care experience within a hospital setting preferred.
- Experience within Hematology-Oncology and/or Pulmonology preferred.
EDUCATION
- Four-year Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required.
- Graduate or professional work or advanced degree preferred.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
- License to practice Speech Language in the state of Texas required.
- Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology from ASHA required.
- Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers required.
