The PACU/ASU Registered Nurse promotes and restores patients' health by completing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care for pre and post-perative patients recovering from general, local, and regional anesthesia based upon age specific and cultural needs.
Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as well as other medical care treatment.
Documents patient care given.
Intensively monitors, records, patient vital signs and condition as patient emerges from anesthesia in the immediate post operative or procedural phase. Communicates patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family.
Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances. Completes discharge phone calls.
Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.

Minimum Education Graduate of an accredited professional nursing program Associates Degree Required Bachelor's Degree Preferred
Required Skills Certifications: x Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - American Heart Association x Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) - American Heart Association x ASPAN preferred
Competency/Training: x NIH stroke scale completed within 90 days of hire x EKG exam at time of hire Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Valid registered nurse license in State of Arizona or Valid multistate license from a recognized compact state acceptable to Arizona
