Valley View Medical Center is a state-of-the-art hospital, licensed with 52 medical/surgical beds, 16 emergency department beds, 12 acute rehabilitation beds, 12 intensive care beds, 6 major operating rooms and 2 endoscopy suites plus a modern cardiac catheterization and 8 delivery & post-partum unit with all private bed hospital in the area.
Position Summary: Provides direct patient care to patients using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice.
Responsibilities:
- Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as well as other medical care treatment.
- Documents patient care given.
- Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family.
- Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
- Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
- Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
- Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.
- LDRP competent staff member demonstrates clinical competence and efficiency in care of the patient in labor, delivery, postpartum and newborn, as defined in hospital and departmental policies, professional practice, standards/guidelines, and the Law/rules regulating the practice of Nursing.
Qualifications:
X Graduate of a Program in Discipline □ Preferred X Required
Required Skills Competency/Training:
- X Basic Fetal Monitoring within 30 days of hire (if RN does not have other intermediate or advanced FM cert)
- X Fetal Monitoring competency--Meets requirements for labor and delivery MSE. Intermediate must be renewed every two (2) years.
- X NIH Stroke Scale completed within 90 days
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
Certifications:
- X Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)-American Heart Association required within 90 days of hire
- X Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP) at time of hire
- X STABLE -Preferred
Required Licenses: [Arizona, United States] Registered Nurse
Compact or multi-state licensure accepted. Must be a graduate of an accredited nursing program.
