Position Summary: This is a Department of Nursing Service position that provides delivery of patient care with a smooth transition from academic nurse to professional Registered Nurse (RN). Must demonstrate the clinical ability to work as Primary RN on the Unit to which assigned.
Must be able to coordinate the delivery of patient care on the Unit; completes required documentation; participates inpatient/family teaching and discharge planning, effectively utilizing the Nursing Process. Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as well as other medical care treatment. Documents patient care given. Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family. Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation. Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needs. Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances. Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient. Provides the basic leadership required of a Registered Nurse for subordinate staff on the Unit. Maintains quality delivery of patient care by completing patient assignments in compliance with the Nursing Process, the Arizona Nurse Practice Act, TJC and State regulations and established Hospital Policies and Procedures. Strives daily to give all customers very good care and promotes Havasu Regional Medical Centers' Standards of Behavior and other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education Associate's degree Required within 90 days of hire.
Required Skills Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and function as a member of the multidisciplinary team. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate actions. Adheres to the standards of nursing care, patient safety guidelines and policies of the hospital.
Certification / License BLS Required Within 30 days (If ACLS is current, BLS is not required). ACLS and PALS within 6 months of hire. Arizona Registered Nurse (RN) License or Compact State Registered Nurse (RN) License required within 6 months of hire. Competencies: NIHSS Stroke within 30 days of hire and annually thereafter.
