EchoStar has an exciting opportunity for an
Aircraft Operations Engineer in our Hughes Network Systems division
. This role will be located at our office in
Lisle, IL, or Germantown, MD. Responsibilities:- Support and resolve aircraft connectivity issues utilizing a holistic understanding of the system, including hardware, software, and network requirements.
- Serve as an escalation point for tier 1 technical support teams.
- Track hardware failures and work closely with the reliability team to implement long-term solutions.
- Utilize various data sources, such as performance metrics, tickets, and system logs to identify systemic failure trends.
- Define automation requirements to optimize tools and improve operational effectiveness and efficiency.
- Act as a bridge between engineering, development, and program management to foster collaboration and alignment between critical departments.
- Work on-call, which can include nights, weekends, and holidays, to support 24/7 team.
Basic Requirements:- Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, aviation, a similar field or a combination of education and experience
- 5+ years of technical operations experience , ideally from an aviation-centric or satellite communications provider.
Preferred Qualifications:- Satellite Communications systems experience (GEO, MEO, LEO), as a service provider
- Aviation software and hardware experience in installation, maintenance, and repair
- Network Operations background with major service provider experience
- Operations Management background from education or work experience
- Airline maintenance experience
Will be eligible for discretionary bonus, with funding based on company performance.
