Position Summary
Sovah Health is looking for the ideal candidate who will participate in strategic planning with leadership to propose, plan, and execute enhancements in physical security and safety practices to provide for a safe environment for all people on Sovah Health campuses.
Conducts periodic risk and vulnerability assessments and implements mitigation strategies in order to minimize operational impact and disruptions.
Ensures the compliance of applicable Standards for Regulatory Agencies (i.e. Joint Commission, OSHA, AHCA, State of Virginia, etc.).
Oversees the Market Emergency Preparedness Program.
Oversees Market Workplace Violence Prevention Program.
Supervises Market Handle With Care Program.
Participates in Environment of Care Committees and hospital readiness.
Oversee vendors who perform Security/Safety related work for the health system to ensure they provide appropriate services based on their contracted responsibilities.
Supervise, train, and provide professional development opportunities for security team members across both campuses.
Collaborate with hospital leadership, Facilities, Risk, Legal and other Sovah (and LifePoint) Health entities in developing integrated security strategies and policies.
Direct supervision of Sovah Health Danville Security Manager Sovah Health Martinsville Security Supervisor
Develop and maintain relationships with local law enforcement.
Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications Minimum Education
Required:
Associate degree in related field with ten (10) years' experience in Security/law enforcement or related field, and twelve (12) years supervisory experience; or High School Diploma or Equivalent with 12 years' experience in Security/law enforcement or related field and 15 years supervisor experience.
Required Skills
Verbal and written communication, analytical, interpersonal, and strong organizational skills. Relationship and network building skills. Exceptional attention to detail is required. Competency with various business software programs (Microsoft, data analytical).
Must have excellent oral and written communication skills; interpersonal and collaboration skills.
Exceptional customer service skills.
Experience in MS Office Suite, in particular spreadsheet development, database, Word, and Power Point reporting. Competency with other educational and business software (SharePoint, learning management systems, etc.)
Familiar with International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS) accepted training standards.
Certifications:
Healthcare Provider (BLS) American Heart Association (AHA) required within 60 days from date of hire.
Required certification: Handle With Care Trainer
Preferred Certification: CHPALicenses
Valid driver's license with good driving record.
