Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:30 PM - 7 AM, rotating through shifts.
Essential Functions of Employment with DLO:

Main Duties: The Microbiology Supervisor is accountable for the accuracy and reliability of all services in the Microbiology Lab. Responsibilities include scheduling, hiring, disciplinary action, department meetings, implementation of new policies and procedures, review of QC/QA records, conducting annual performance reviews, training, and other duties as assigned by the Microbiology Manager. Demonstrates the interpersonal skills necessary to deal courteously and effectively with peers, direct reports, clients, and the public. Implements SOPs and BPT initiatives in accordance with Quest and DLO guidelines. Maintains a safe, ergonomically sound, professional environment that actively encourages and supports employee involvement.
Required Knowledge: BS degree in Medical Technology or Bachelor’s degree with Microbiology ASCP Certification. Applicant must demonstrate a broad knowledge of the technical aspects of the tests performed in Clinical Microbiology, including Bacteriology, automated ID, and antimicrobial susceptibility systems, and possess the ability to lead employees in daily activities as well as interact with medical staff regarding these services. Ability to stay abreast of the latest innovations in test methodologies.
Required Experience: Minimum requirements – 5 years in a clinical Microbiology Laboratory, experience in a Lead or Supervisory capacity, with proven leadership skills preferred.
Special Requirements: MT(ASCP) or equivalent certification. Must have interpersonal skills to gain cooperation with other departments and foster continuous improvements. Must be flexible and available based on staffing requirements, including weekends and holidays. Must demonstrate good organizational and communication skills and be able to address client concerns and employees professionally. Must be able to make independent decisions and handle multiple priorities in a high-volume setting. Must be able to organize and lead projects both within the work group and with cross-functional groups.
Physical and Mental Requirements:
- The normal performance of duties may require lifting and carrying objects: Objects 1 to 10 pounds are lifted and carried frequently; objects 11 to 25 pounds are lifted and carried occasionally; objects 36 to 50 pounds are seldom lifted or carried, and objects over 50 pounds are not to be lifted or carried without assistance.
- Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time.
- May be required to use a wide variety of manual and automated pipettes and laboratory instruments and apparatuses, all of which demand significant manual dexterity.
