Cytotechnologist

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare and examine cell samples using advanced microscopic techniques to detect abnormal cell formations and conditions.
- Implement various staining procedures to enhance visibility and detail of cell samples, ensuring precise analysis.
- Engage in collaborative review sessions with pathologists and other medical staff to verify findings and finalize diagnoses.
- Maintain meticulous records of diagnostic processes and results, adhering to required documentation standards.
- Uphold and promote strict laboratory safety protocols and quality control measures to prevent contamination or errors in diagnosis.
Minimum Position Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in cytotechnology, biology, or a closely related field.
- Completion of an accredited cytotechnology program, preferably a post-baccalaureate certificate or master’s degree program.
- Required certification from the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) with successful completion of the BOC exam.
- Demonstrated proficiency in using microscopic analysis techniques for diagnostic purposes.
- Substantial experience in a laboratory setting, focusing on cytopathology and diagnostic testing.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced degree or specialized training in cytotechnology or related field.
- Additional certifications that complement the primary ASCP certification.
- Over 3 years of direct experience in a diagnostic or medical laboratory setting.
- Prior experience working closely with pathologists and other healthcare providers in a diagnostic team.
- Record of contributing to laboratory research or improvement projects related to cytotechnology.
