Job Description:
This position oversees the university’s accounting and reporting activities. Ensures compliance with generally accepted accounting principles, governmental accounting standards as well as university guidelines and policies. The Comptroller directly oversees all general accounting activities, including, but not limited to customer accounts, capital assets, grant accounting and payroll accounting. They will be responsible for reconciliations, treasury management and maintaining accurate fiscal records across the university.
Authority and Accountability
Reporting to the Associate Vice President for Financial Affairs, the Comptroller manages and oversees all financial operations and finance systems of the University.
Required/Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business from an accredited college or university.
- Minimum of eight (8) years of progressively responsible experience in financial management area with two (2) or more years of senior level administrative experience in the areas of finance and accounting.
- Strong working knowledge of automated accounting systems required.
- Extensive knowledge of financial software and related applications and integrations will help this candidate be successful.
- Must possess a high proficiency in Excel, with knowledge of advanced Excel functionalities.
- Sound administrative skills and well-developed management skills are required.
- Ability to thrive and prioritize in fast paced environment, with multiple deadlines and responsibilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with proven ability to work collaboratively with faculty, students, staff, and other administrators.
- Excellent analytical, organizational and supervisory skills, with ability to provide oversight and coaching to all levels of staff.
Preferred Qualifications
- MBA or Graduate degree in Accounting or related field.
- Experience in higher education and/or a non-profit organization.
- Working knowledge of Workday Financials highly preferred.
