Job Title: Senior Buyer / Planner
This position is 100% onsite in Salt Lake City
FLSA Status: Exempt
Position Summary: The Senior Buyer / Planner is responsible for providing production support and coordinating activities involved with procuring goods and services.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Provide production support and coordinate activities involved with procuring goods and services, such as raw materials, equipment, parts, supplies and services.
- Review requisitions and award purchase orders in accordance to knowledge of current fair market prices and price history.
- Determine the best method of procurement.
- Prepare purchase orders.
- Review bid proposals and maintain manual or computerized procurement records, such as items or services purchased, costs, delivery, product quality or performance, and inventories.
- Review defective, unacceptable goods or services with users, suppliers and others to determine source of trouble and take corrective action.
- Approve invoices for payment and contact suppliers to resolve invoicing issues.
- Expedite follow-up and receiving of materials, supplies and services in a timely manner to support JIT shipments.
- Process raw material requirements and purchase orders.
- Complete data entry from receiving paperwork.
- Source, select and submit new suppliers.
- Request samples and applicable documentation from suppliers.
- Monitor quality and services from approved suppliers.
- Work on special assignments as they arise.
Knowledge, Skills & Qualifications:
- Familiar with standard concepts, practices and procedures within the purchasing field.
- Strong organizational skills.
- High level of attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize key business objectives and respond quickly to changing priorities.
- Able to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient in Excel, Word and Outlook.
Education and Experience:
- High School diploma; Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of experience working in Purchasing or related areas.
- Working knowledge of Materials Requirement Planning (MRP).
- Experience with Oracle is preferred.
Travel Requirements:
- Typically requires travel less than 5% of the time.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment:
- This is largely a sedentary role.
- This job operates in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment.
