Part-Time Seasonal Tax Accountant - Houston, TX - Belmont Village Senior Living
This is a hybrid, part-time, seasonal role based in Houston, Texas that requires flexibility to accommodate deadlines and special projects throughout the year and the ability to attend in-person meetings at our Corporate office as needed. Candidates permanently residing outside the greater Houston area will not be considered for this position.
The Tax Accountant will be responsible for handling partnership tax-related tasks for entities within our joint ventures and corporate structure of Assisted Living communities and real estate investments. Primary duties include preparing book-to-tax workpapers and state apportionment schedules for external tax firms, facilitating the preparation of federal and state tax returns. Additional responsibilities involve preparing tax estimates and projections, conducting a first-level review of tax returns from external firms, processing tax payments, and providing general accounting support to the VP of Accounting.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare book-to-tax workpapers and state apportionment schedules for external tax firms or join venture partners tax department
- Conduct the first-level review of federal and state partnership tax returns prepared by external tax firms or joint venture partners tax department.
- Prepare tax estimates/projections for senior management or join venture partners
- Provide tax fee accrual calculations and assist with GAAP equity in earnings entries
- Collaborate on special accounting projects and assist with the 401K audit
- Process tax payments
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting and a minimum of 5 years of related accounting experience
- Expertise in federal and state partnership tax returns and GAAP/tax depreciation methods
- Experience working with high volume, complex real estate legal entity structures
- Highly accurate, detail-oriented, and proficient in Windows and Excel
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, manage deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities
- Self-motivated with the ability to handle projects with limited direction
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- CPA certification or public accounting tax experience.
- Experience with audits is a plus.
