Summary: This position is responsible for supporting the BSA Director and Assistant BSA Officer in ensuring compliance with state and federal consumer protection regulations, Bank Secrecy Act/Anti Money Laundering/Office Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) regulations, and monitoring for compliance with policies and procedures and related internal controls in the Bank.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
- Support the BSA Director and Assistant BSA Officer as needed.
- Supports the development, implementation and revisions to the BSA Compliance program and policy as needed.
- Supports the development and implementation of training programs that teach employees about the BSA/AML/OFAC regulations and procedures.
- Assists BSA Director in periodic AML program monitoring and may serve as back-up administrator for AML software program.
- Reviews and prepares Currency Transaction and Suspicious Activity Reports.
- Aids in suspicious activity monitoring and investigations.
- Assists in developing procedures for monitoring of suspicious activity.
- May assist BSA Director in coordinating audit responses from management on BSA audits; follows up to ensure proper action by management and clearance of all exceptions.
- Provide guidance, interpretation, and research concerning BSA issues.
- Stay abreast of changes in banking regulations.
- May assist in preparing documentation for and coordination of examinations by regulatory agencies and external auditors.
- Demonstrates knowledge and expertise of banking regulations and financial principles and supports the Company’s overall mission, standards, policies and procedures, and confidentiality guidelines.
- Interacts in a professional, courteous manner with employees, Management and Board members.
Supervisory Responsibilities: This job has no direct supervisory responsibilities.
Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); Some college preferred along with a required three to five years of experience in BSA/AML/OFAC program compliance within the banking industry.
Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees of organization. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent. To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Edge and Microsoft Office software.
Physical Demands: This position may require long periods of standing or sitting and may include long periods of typing and repetitive motion. Candidates must possess the ability to lift and carry cash drawers, coin bags, and boxes sometimes weighing as much as 25 pounds.
