General Description:
A physical therapist provides services to patients/clients who have impairments, functional limitations, disabilities, or changes in physical function and health status resulting from injury, disease, or loss of a body part. A physical therapist plans and administers physical therapy treatment programs for medically referred patients to restore function, relieve pain, and prevent disability following disease, injury, or loss of body part. Physical therapists at HMH may treat patients who are hospital acute care in-patients, out-patients, and/or provide consultative services to contracted agencies.
Work Experience/Requirements:
- One year experience and/or student affiliations in acute in-patient and/or out-patient services.
Education:
- Graduate from a professional physical therapist education program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE) with a current license to practice physical therapy in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
- Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification for Healthcare Providers (BLSHP) required within first 90 days of employment, if permanent work assignment is not the Southbridge campus.
