Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center and Clinics is home to the largest laboratory in NH, providing Pathology and Clinical Laboratory services to DHMC and Clinics physician practices, Dartmouth Health system member hospitals as well as to independent practices and hospitals throughout NH and VT. Our Laboratory has a unique and rare opening for a Histology Supervisor to join the team. Working with 45+ Pathologists and overseeing 30+ employees, the Histology Supervisor is responsible for the overall direction, operations, and performance of the Histology section in the Department of Laboratories. They plan, organize, and manage the section's activities and personnel. This section of the Laboratory is newly renovated with state-of-the-art equipment and plenty of natural light. The team processes 85,000+ surgical specimens, including whole slide imaging for digital pathology.
This is a full-time, 40-hour per week, day-shift position.

Responsibilities
- Supervises all personnel and activities within section through various means and practices, including, but not limited to, reviewing and maintaining section's operations to ensure an effective and efficient processing and reporting of workload, scheduling section work flow - adjusting staffing coverage to meet demands, evaluating the performance of section staff, seeking and providing avenues for them to upgrade their job skills, etc.
- Documents, implements, and maintains standard laboratory procedures for the section. Ensures high quality test results through hospital and section quality assurance activities. Ensures the safety and security of property and section personnel.
- Responsible for the overall teaching program in the section which includes MT students, residents, other shifts, aides, etc.
- Oversees technological improvements, proper utilization and maintenance of equipment and development of new test procedures in specialized area.
- Ensures that managerial policies, practices, and objectives of the department are achieved within the section.
- Assists in preparing, implementing, and monitoring the annual budget for equipment, supplies, and personnel.
- Prepares planning activities in the section. Participates in the Laboratory Department's planning process.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned.
Qualifications
- Registered Medical Technologist with 5 years of laboratory experience including 2 years in a supervisory or lead position.
- Master's degree preferred.
- Familiarity with regulatory agencies affecting laboratories required.
- CPT & ICD-9 coding experience and Medicare reimbursement knowledge desired.
Required Licensure/Certifications
- Registered Medical Technologist with 5 years of laboratory experience including 2 years in a supervisory or lead position.
