About the Role: The Senior Cost Accountant will be key in advancing Central Moloney’s cost accounting function. Reporting to the Cost Accounting Manager, this individual will review production costing, analyze cost models, and support the company’s financial strategy. The Senior Cost Accountant will work closely with various teams to analyze cost of goods sold, inventory management, production variances, and support audits and process improvements.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain a cost accounting structure, ensuring accurate Bill of Materials (BOM) and master data that directly impacts product costs and inventory records.
- Analyze production cost activity monthly and identify standard cost variances, providing detailed reports and actionable insights.
- Support supply chain cost analysis, including evaluation of fully loaded costs by product, distribution point, and customer.
- Maintain the integrity of inventory records, reconciling complex transactions and resolving discrepancies.
- Prepare monthly journal entries related to production cost, shipping, handling, and related allocations.
- Reconcile general ledger accounts, including inventory for raw materials, work in process (WIP), finished goods, and shipping/handling costs.
- Review and report on expected versus actual costs, providing variance analysis and explanations.
- Prepare monthly and quarterly financial reports and analysis, supporting the company’s financial planning and decision-making process.
- Prepare audit schedules for cost accounting-related items and ensure proper documentation to support quarterly and year-end audits.
- Execute key controls related to inventory and cost of goods sold (COGS), ensuring compliance with internal audit requirements.
- Lead process improvement initiatives in costing and inventory management to enhance operational efficiency.
- Assist with special projects as assigned, contributing to cross-functional financial initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3+ years of cost accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- In-depth knowledge of US GAAP and Cost Accounting Standards.
- Experience with budget planning and understanding of cost drivers in a manufacturing setting.
- Strong proficiency with ERP systems and financial analytic tools.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, including data extraction, analysis, and complex reporting.
- Previous experience with process improvement projects, specifically within cost accounting or supply chain management.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities effectively.
- Ability to work collaboratively across departments and communicate complex financial data clearly and concisely.
