The role you’ll contribute:
GENERAL SUMMARY:
Establish, manage and grow patient focused care models in his/her areas of management. Assumes 24-hour operational responsibility for the effective implementation of the philosophy, goals, policies and procedures of the Hospital and their effect on patient care in all designated units. Responsible for the ongoing effective operation of the following cost centers: Surgical Services Administration, Surgery Room, Assessment Center/Pre-Surgery Clinic, Ambulatory Care Center, GI/Endoscopy Lab, OR Supplies, OR Implants, Peri-Anesthesia Care Unit, Central Processing Department, Anesthesia, Cath Lab, Cardiology Diagnostic.
Must have good interpersonal and leadership skills, ability to discuss, promote and explain programs, goals, policies and procedures with patients, employees, administrative staff, and medical staff. Must be of sound character and possess the highest ethical standards.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develops an integrated unit plan that encompasses quality improvement initiatives, multidisciplinary coordination of care and regulatory readiness within the organization care delivery model.
- Effectively collaborates with multidisciplinary team members to ensure coordinated care.
- Provides support and structure utilizing performance improvement principles to implement quality initiatives.
- Keeps in step with current technology associated with area of responsibility.
- Enhances leadership and management skills of department managers.
- Assists managers in developing departmental business plans to fulfill Hospital goals.
- Displays professionalism in decision making and problem-solving processes through thorough analysis and critical thinking.
- Fosters an environment of staff empowerment delegating tasks that provide staff autonomy in practice environment.
- Ensures a practice environment that promotes dignity and respect for all employees as well as attention to diversity in the workplace.
- Continue personal professional development through professional organizations, attending educational seminars relevant to position, and reading professional journals.
- Develops policies, procedures, personnel and practices which provide a superior level of service and efficiency.
- Improves standards of service to exceed customer expectations in clinical services delivered, waiting times, reports to patient and physician in an atmosphere of positive personal interaction, respect to patient privacy and dignity, and meeting the needs of the referring physician.
- Ensures that the assigned departments meet regulatory and accreditation requirements.
- Actively participates in annual budgetary forecasting initiatives.
- Ensures unit base control of operational costs.
- Actively seeks out new ways of cost containment and responsible resource management.
- Demonstrates appropriate use of professional personnel in meeting labor tracking standards regarding skill mix appropriate for patient care delivery model.
- Practices effective communication and problem-solving skills to promote positive physician relations and engagement.
- Ensures operational efficiency utilizing benchmarking and best practice standards.
- Supports organizational goals and direction through contract knowledge and compliance for goods and services.
- Other duties as business needs arise.
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE STRONGLY PREFERRED:
- Surgical Services, Operating Room knowledge and skills.
- Excellent communication, facilitation, and presentation skills.
- Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to work autonomously.
- Applies the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients/clients/families served, i.e., infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric.
- Possess good interpersonal and leadership skills.
- Ability to discuss, promote and explain programs, goals, policy and procedures with employees, administrative staff, medical staff and volunteers.
- Must be of sound character and possess the highest ethical standards.
- Computer literacy is required with Microsoft programs Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.
- Experience to include leadership and management skills to manage the daily activities of various departments with a variety of specialties.
- Demonstrate ability to communicate effectively through talking and listening.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Bachelor's Nursing and 2+ years experience.
- 2-5 years Leadership Experience.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
REQUIRED
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing.
- Two to five years' position-related leadership experience.
PREFERRED
- Master's degree in Nursing, Health Administration, Business Administration or related discipline.
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED:
REQUIRED
- Georgia RN license.
- BLS (American Heart Association).
