Job Description
Wallingford-Swarthmore School District believes in all students. Responsibilities:
- Conduct psychological assessments to identify students' needs, particularly with respect to eligibility under the Individuals with Disability Education Act (IDEA) and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
- Facilitate and assist with the creation and implementation of individualized education programs (IEPs) and 504 plans in collaboration with teachers, parents, and related service providers.
- Monitor and assess students' progress, troubleshoot programming issues, and assist in adjusting interventions in a collaborative working environment.
- Build capacity in forming and facilitating multi-disciplinary teams that determine whether students should undergo psychological evaluations, pre-referral interventions, etc.
- Provide individual and group counseling to students to address issues such as anxiety, depression, stress, social skills, and family problems.
- Offer crisis intervention and support for students experiencing acute emotional or behavioral issues.
- Support students in developing coping strategies, resilience, and healthy relationships.
Qualifications:
- Master's or Doctoral degree in School Psychology or a related field.
- Valid Pennsylvania Instructional I or II School Psychologist Certificate.
- Strong understanding of adolescent development, learning theories, and mental health issues.
- Strong understanding of relevant State and Federal guidelines related to eligibility.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with students, parents, and staff from diverse backgrounds.
- Ability to relate and communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Prior experience preferred.
