Your Role
The Area Controller Southeast US is responsible for overseeing all financial operations within the Southeast US Area. Acting as a strategic business partner to the Southeast US Area leadership, this role ensures alignment with the company’s centralized finance structures across Kuehne + Nagel US. The role will drive financial decision-making and operational efficiency, while directly reporting to the Southeast US Regional Vice President and functionally reporting to the CFO of the USA.
Your Responsibilities
- Serve as a finance business partner for the Southeast US Area (over $1 billion in gross revenue, 500+ FTEs), supporting strategic financial decisions.
- Manage working capital, ensuring compliance with Kuehne + Nagel’s financial guidelines, and drive governance across the Southeast US organization.
- Ensure timely, accurate, and high-quality financial reporting, including revenue recognition, while overseeing the forecasting and budgeting processes.
- Collaborate with business units, sales, and branches to prepare business cases for credit limit decisions and manage the Business Investment Applications (BIA) process.
- Coordinate the resolution of A/R disputes and participate in customer calls to ensure effective financial management.
- Provide financial training and knowledge-sharing initiatives to strengthen the financial acumen within the Southeast US organization.
- Foster a strong governance framework and ensure adherence to financial policies and best practices within the region.
Your Skills and Experiences
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field (Master’s preferred) with 7+ years of professional experience, including at least 5 years in finance roles and leading teams/projects.
- Strong leadership, project management, and communication skills, with experience working at senior management levels in a global environment.
- Proven operational and business expertise in Freight Forwarding and Logistics, with the ability to assess business requirements and financial/legal risks.
- Excellent business acumen and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think creatively and adapt to challenges.
- Strong analytical skills, able to provide detailed insights and summaries to senior management.
- Hands-on, organized, detail-oriented, and capable of working under pressure while maintaining high standards of confidentiality.
