Who You Are:
As an Associate Accountant, you will invoice clients, verify financial records and transactions, and work collaboratively with other members of the accounting team. You must have a keen attention to detail and accurately maintain account balances, financial statements, general ledger, and other reports.
What You’ll Do:
- General Accounting
- Comply with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) for financial statements.
- Advise on procedure and financial management.
- Develop procedures to improve efficiency.
- Assist with audits and taxes.
- Ensure compliance with all internal processes.
- Drive to Month End Close deadlines each month.
- Accounts Receivable
- Send initial accounting email to customer upon contract signature.
- Generate, ensure accuracy, and send invoices to customers on a timely basis.
- Setup and maintain customer account information on file (A/P contact, Tax Exempt/Non-Exempt status, and forms).
- Generate and send Account Statements to customers.
- Collect outstanding balances.
- Maintain ACH and Credit Card payment documents and records, process transactions.
- Send weekly aging report, customer list and deferred revenue report.
- Internal and External Customer Care
- Business partner to internal departments (Sales, Customer Success, Integration, and others) to provide value added financial services including monitoring and proactively assisting moving amendments through the process cycle.
- Work with external clients to timely resolve billing questions and issues including proactively moving clients to the preferred ACH payment method.
- State Tax Filings and Compliance
- Collect and Remit Sales & Use Tax via Avalara, confirm Filings, reconcile accounts monthly.
- Maintain and update all client tax exemption certificates and ensure compliance with each state’s renewal requirements.
- Other quarterly and annual tax filings (city, local, state, assist with federal).
- Month End Close Journal Entries and Reconciliations for:
- Revenue Recognition /Deferred Revenue.
- General Ledger Accounts.
- Assist with the review of On Hold and Not Started opportunities.
- Customer transaction count reports.
- Special ad hoc responsibilities and projects.
What You’ll Bring:
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or 1 -3 years related work experience as an accountant.
- Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, cost accounting and cost control principles, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Knowledge of accounting best practices, laws, standards, and state/national regulations.
- Skilled in Financial Statement Analysis.
- Possess excellent software skills, including QuickBooks, NetSuite, Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint) and Adobe Acrobat.
- Possess excellent professional communication skills, both verbal and written, and time management skills.
- Must be detail-oriented, organized, self-motivated, flexible, adaptable, collaborative, willing to learn new skills, have a positive attitude, and be of the utmost integrity.
- Excel at multi-tasking, solving problems and adapting to changing situations.
- Willingness to learn and to grow with the company.
Preferred:
- Master’s degree in accounting and/or a CPA or CPA track a plus.
- Experience using Salesforce, Avalara and Expensify is preferred.
- Proficiency and experience with software system implementation is a plus.
