SUMMARY
The Senior (Sr.) Financial Analyst, Sales & Margin Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) plays a key role on the Sales & Margin FP&A Team, which supports the short and long-term planning, forecasting, and analysis of all aspects of the Company’s sales, margin, and inventory operations. The Sales and Margin FP&A Team serves as a strategic thought partner to the Business and actively collaborates with various departments, including Merchandising, Merchandise Planning, eCommerce, Marketing, Sourcing, and Supply Chain. Responsibilities include analysis on sales, margin, inventory plans, forecasts, and strategic initiatives, while using data and analytics to apply a financial lens to decision making.
JOB DUTIES
- Planning and Forecasting:
- Partners with the Merchandising, Merchandise Planning, eCommerce, Marketing, Sourcing, and Supply Chain Departments in the development and analysis of all sales, margin, and inventory plans and forecasts, including by category and by channel (Stores and eCommerce). This includes annual long-range and operational planning, quarterly reforecasting, as well as other ad-hoc scenario modeling.
- Drives the planning and forecasting of net margin components, including shrink and damages, clearance activity, vendor discounts and allowances, and other product costs.
- Updates forecast models using key drivers, trend analysis, economic and external factors, and strategic guidance from the Executive Leadership Team.
- Reviews and challenges forecast assumptions to ensure projections are realistic, align with business strategies and goals, and appropriately consider known risks and opportunities.
- Monitors the accuracy and predictability of forecast models and optimizes and enhances models accordingly.
- Reporting, Analysis, and Decision Support:
- Synthesizes, analyzes, and tells the story of large, complex data sets and prepares various reporting and analysis.
- Make recommendations to improve the Company’s sales, margin, and inventory operations, including the optimization of pricing and promotions, vendor costing and terms, and inventory flow plans.
- Assist in the development and execution of Company strategies.
- Inform data-driven decision making.
- Identify risks and opportunities.
- Provide insights to Company leadership and support Company presentations, including Board of Directors, earnings, and investor presentations.
- Reporting and analysis prepared includes but is not limited to: Merchandise key performance indicator (KPI) reporting and analysis, price, cost, volume, mix analysis, traffic, conversion, basket analysis, macroeconomic and competitor analysis, sales build analysis, pricing productivity analysis, inventory productivity analysis, business case analysis, channel metric and profitability analysis, and vendor scorecard analysis.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Education Minimum: Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, Data Science, or another related field.
Education Preferred: Graduate Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Data Science, or another related field.
Experience Minimum: 5+ years of experience in FP&A, with a focus on sales and margin management.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- This role requires in-person attendance 4 days a week at the Store Support Center (SSC) located in Hudson, OH. Flexibility to work remotely when requested is determined by management and business needs.
- Sit or stand at a workstation for extended periods while maintaining focus and productivity.
- Move around an office space and between buildings on a large campus, including reaching for files, retail product, supplies, or equipment, as well as the ability to adapt to various workstation setups.
- Work standard business hours and extended hours as needed based on task and project demands.
- Utilization of all communication styles - written, verbal, electronic options.
- Lift and carry office supplies, documents, retail product or equipment weighing up to 20 pounds as needed for tasks such as organizing or setting up workstations.
