JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Description: The Manager, Accounting performs and reviews complex statistical financial analysis that often has significant impact/implications on the financial direction and the success of the business.
Key responsibilities include:
- Oversight of the monthly financial reporting.
- Financial audit support.
- Manage regulatory filings.
- Implement and maintain appropriate internal controls.
The Manager, Accounting is responsible for coaching and prioritizing the work of the team members. The position also serves as an information source for other analysts in the department and other customers at Medica.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent working experience.
- A minimum of 7 years of professional experience in Accounting.
- Leadership experience required.
Key Accountabilities:
- Financial Close Process: Provide oversight of the monthly financial activity for accuracy and timeliness. This includes the review of journal entries for administrative expenses and appropriate accruals. Identify and convey variances to Corporate and segment leadership.
- Audit Support: Support the annual financial audit in addition to other audits by regulators such as CMS, DHS, etc.
- Regulatory Filings: Provide input for completion of necessary regulatory filings including the quarterly NAIC filings, cost report, etc.
- Internal Controls: Implement and maintain internal controls to mitigate financial and operational risks.
Skills and Abilities:
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
- Demonstrated strong written, verbal, interpersonal and communication skills.
- Great Plains Systems experience preferred.
- Strong leadership and team management abilities.
- Demonstrated ability to manage diverse personalities and create a cohesive team environment.
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
This position is a Hub role, which requires an employee to occasionally come onsite to the designated office - Minnetonka, MN or Madison, WI - for applicable heads-up work. Frequency is determined by business need as decided by leadership.
