Special Kids, a non-profit Christian therapy and nursing center in Murfreesboro, TN, is dedicated to serving children with special needs. We’re seeking a Senior Investor Relations Specialist (SIRS) to assist with grant writing and explore new funding opportunities. Summary
The SIRS works closely with the Director of Development and Marketing to build and maintain relationships with VIPs, Annual Sponsors, and potential Legacy Giving donors using Moves Management. In addition, this position will work to deliver impactful communications with sponsors and donors and achieve sustainable growth. The SIRS will collaborate with the Director of Development and Marketing to plan and reach the development budget.
The Senior Investor Relations Specialist (SIRS) plays a crucial role in fostering relationships with key stakeholders, ensuring sustainable growth and enhancing community engagement. The SIRS is responsible for coordinating the development, planning, implementation, and oversight of an annual plan for key investors, top business supporters, and creation of new partnerships with sponsors and key investors. The strategy and tactics may require coordination with Special Kids leadership team members and Development and Marketing staff for delivery of key messaging utilizing multi-channel marketing.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Annual Planning: Coordinates the development and management of the annual plan for Special Kids top investors and sponsors.
- Works with the Director of Development and Marketing to develop an annual fundraising strategy for key investors, annual sponsors, Legacy Giving, and mini-introductory events.
- Coordinates with the Development and Marketing team and the development calendar to ensure there is no overlap in communications with top investors and sponsors and event needs and asks to maximize value to the community.
- Coordination with the marketing team for publication needs and/or communications strategy to include flyers, brochures, postcards, social media, e-blasts, invitations, mailings, etc.
- Community outreach is integrated into the annual fundraising plan to build ongoing and new support and raise awareness to attract new donors and sponsors.
- Develops annual communication plan for VIP donors, endowment supporters, and annual sponsors.
Finances and Revenue Generation: Responsible for growing donor and sponsor relationships, maintaining and increasing revenue from various sources defined in the budget, development plan, and fundraising strategy.
- Solicits, maintains, secures, and grows donor relationships and sponsorships increasing revenue commitments for annual, endowment, capital campaigns, matching funds, and other fundraising strategies as defined in the development plan.
- Communicates with assigned sponsors and event participants improving engagement with the organization to garner financial support outside of events in coordination with Director of Development and Marketing and Event Specialists.
- Support all fundraising campaigns (Hope Drive, Giving Tuesday, and others) as assigned by the Director of Development and Marketing.
- Reports to Director of Development and Marketing on variances from budget from assigned accounts and fundraising strategy.
Administration: Works closely with the Director of Development and Marketing in establishing priorities, timelines, budgets, work plans, and updates. Documents all communications related to donor, sponsor, and vendors in the customer relationship management program.
- Executes timely thank you phone calls and hand-written notes to donors and sponsors following the investor stewardship plan.
- Updates all plans, timelines, and other tools to simplify execution.
- Meets target dates for deliverables by establishment of priorities, work plans, and timelines.
- Documents in the customer relationship management system all communications with vendors, sponsors, donors, and community organizations daily.
- Represents Special Kids at fundraising and community events as appropriate.
- Other duties as required.

Education and/or Experience:
Preferred Bachelor’s degree in Communications and/or 3-5 years’ experience in related field. Experience in non-profits or fundraising, volunteer/campaign management, public speaking, and managing a +$500,000 budget is preferred.
Computer Skills:
To be successful in this job, an individual should have basic computer skills and the ability to learn new software and web-based applications.
