Job Description: The nurse manager in the post anesthesia care unit functions as the first line administrative nursing leader with responsibility for daily operations of the PACU.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Oversees team members within the department. Supervises and monitors patient care delivery in the pre and post operative setting.
- Monitors daily staffing and manages departmental productivity standards.
- Maintains open lines of communication with team members and other organizational leadership.
- Maintains optimal, ongoing staffing levels.
- Ensures availability of functioning and necessary equipment and supplies.
- Ensures operation of department is maintained within established annual budget.
- Ensures all policies are up to date and consistent with best practice guidelines.
- Responds to complaints and/or concerns from internal and external customers.
- Self-Awareness: Allows personal and organizational values and beliefs to guide decision making. Uses emotional awareness and recognizes strengths in themselves and others. Earns trust and loyalty and encourages strong work ethic and enthusiasm by modeling it personally.
Education Requirements:
- Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing. Bachelor’s degree in nursing or related field required.
Licensure/Certification Requirements:
- Licensed to practice as an RN in SC; CPAN Certification Preferred (required within 1 yr.)
Professional Experience Requirements:
- Three (3) years of experience as a registered nurse.
Knowledge/Skills/and Abilities Requirements:
- Able to work in a collaborative and multidisciplinary environment.
- Interpersonal communication skills necessary to work with hospital employees, physicians, patients, family members and community professionals.
- Ability to work flexible hours to meet Department needs.
