To provide administrative leadership to the Ambulatory Campus Departments of Surgery in its day to day operations. Supervises and directs operations in the business and clinical areas of the department according to policies, procedures, philosophy, and objectives of Jennie Stuart Medical Center. Coordinates and directs patient care and related activities according to accepted standards and regulatory agency requirements. Develops capital and operational budgets in collaboration with the JSH Clinical Director of Main Campus Services and VP of Nursing and Clinical Services. Shares responsibility for the fiscal activities of the department. Continuously monitors the quality of care delivered to patients to promote efficacy, appropriateness, availability, timeliness, effectiveness, safety, respect, and caring then analyzes and implements quality care improvements. Participates in the development and implementation of departmental policies and procedures. Works with department leaders to ensure a cohesive work environment.

Supervises: Professional and assistive personnel, including anesthesia providers, assigned in the business office, pre-op, OR, and PACU areas within the ASC.
Shift/Work Hours: Monday-Friday, and 24/7 administrative management responsibility for the ASC.

Essential Functions:
This position reports directly to the VP of Nursing and Clinical Services and has direct responsibility for the operations of the Department of Surgery staff at the ASC.
Will evaluate, plan, advance and monitor administrative and clinical practice of the perioperative departments and services.
Will work in concert with the VP of Nursing and Clinical Services, administration, and other organization and clinical leaders.
Provides administrative direction for development and evaluation of all perioperative employees, and maintains operational aspects of patient care in collaboration with support services.
Contributes to the hospital through support of philosophy and objectives, educational and certification efforts.
Accountable to assure that patient, employee, and providers’ satisfaction scores are all in acceptable ranges and improving.
Accountable for building and directing teams to improve core measures and other Joint Commission and regulatory initiatives.
Assures department is regulatory survey ready at all times, including documentation, facility, and all National Patient Safety Goals.
Has ongoing communication with clinicians both one on one and through rounding, meetings and unit councils.
Is proactive in identifying needs of staff and resolves issues to improve patient care and supports organization direction.

Required Skills
Minimum Education: MBA or MHA or MPH
Preferred Education: MBA or MHA with Health Care Data Analytics

- Five years Administrative Leadership and Perioperative Ambulatory Surgery experience

- Implements cost-effective strategies in staffing and supply management
- Manages the provision of adequate and competent staffing
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Access, Word, Outlook)
Required Experience:
Preferred Work Experience: Five (5) years of experience as a service line director in surgical operations and leadership
Minimum Work Experience: Two (2) years of experience as a service line director in healthcare data operations; management, data analytics, and report building
