Position Summary:
The Neonatal Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) is a registered nurse with advanced knowledge and clinical expertise in neonatal intensive care nursing. The Neonatal CNS assesses the needs of patients and family units within the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and assists in the planning, execution, and evaluation of nursing care. The CNS is an expert practitioner whose goal is to realize optimum quality nursing practice through direct patient care, clinical staff development, consultation, and research. The CNS coordinates and guides clinical activities/projects of nurses within a practice area. The CNS is accountable for collaborating with members of the health care team to design, implement, and measure safe, cost-effective, evidence-based care strategies. The Neonatal CNS must be familiar with and adhere to Regulatory Standards and UCI Health-Fountain Valley Policies and Procedures.

Required Qualifications:
- Minimum Education: Knowledge necessary to obtain R.N. license in the state of California and current California RN license. Current American Heart Association BLS and NRP certification. M.S.N, with Clinical Nurse Specialty.
- Minimum Experience: Minimum of five years acute hospital experience in NICU preferred.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System.
- Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload.
- Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Must possess the skill, knowledge, and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures, and forms.
