Main Responsibilities
- Evaluates physician medication orders for appropriateness of drug, dosage, potential interactions.
- Maintains patient database to include appropriate current and past medical history, clinical and laboratory data, and concurrent medication.
- Ensures that appropriate laboratory tests for monitoring certain high-risk conditions are ordered, evaluated, and discussed with appropriate members of the healthcare team.
- Obtains and maintains all required documentation in accordance with federal and state regulatory agencies and policy.
- Informs the Pharmacist in Charge of medication-related errors.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy is required.
- Knowledge of principles related to pharmaceutical preparation and practices.
- Licensed Pharmacist listed by the Maryland Board of Pharmacy.
Preferred Qualifications
- Two years' experience as a pharmacist, long-term care pharmacy preferred.
- Strong leadership skills.
- Detail-oriented; goal-oriented, team player, oral communication.
- A combination of comprehensive therapeutic knowledge, problem-solving skills, and judgment is necessary.
- Ability to work cooperatively with others; comprehension of the current standards of pharmacy practice; and understanding of the challenges of professional pharmacy practice.
- Ability to master computer/software applications necessary for completing job tasks as required.
- Ability to manage multiple employees and workloads at once and meet deadlines.
- Excellent verbal and communication skills.
