Position Summary:
The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit Nurse is responsible for the planning and delivery of care utilizing the nursing process. Oversees the plan of care, utilizes critical thinking to problem-solve, and uses evidence-based practice. Upholds all regulatory standards and hospital Policy and Procedure. The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit Nurse shall also be responsible for transporting critically ill patients and maintains responsibility and accountability for the delivery and management of the critically ill infant, child, or adolescent during interfacility pediatric ground transport, in partnership with Pediatric Transport Respiratory Therapist and a physician as required. They will perform all elements of nursing assessment and implement plans of care, performing ongoing assessment and re-evaluation of the plan of care based on re-assessment during transport. They involve the family and patient in care, deliver care with equipment required for treatment/procedures appropriate to age, and provide education to patient/family on disease process.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum Education: Current California R.N. license.
- Current American Heart Association BLS and PALS certification.
- Minimum Experience: At least 1 year of experience as a PICU RN required.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System.
- Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload.
- Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties.
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures and forms.
