PART TIME POSITION
This position requires you to work on-site at one of our facilities located throughout Broward County.
This is an OPS (Other Personal Services) position and as such no paid time off is offered. Health benefits will be offered for full-time employment. OPS employees are eligible to participate in a deferred compensation plan.

POSITION DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position will provide direct patient care services in the dental program for FDOH-Broward under the supervision of a dentist.
Under the supervision of the Dental Administrator and the dentist, you will:
- Remove calculus deposits, accretions, and stains from exposed surfaces of teeth and from the tooth surfaces within the gingival sulcus.
- Perform gingival curettage and root planning.
- Pre-assess and chart suspected findings in the oral cavity.
- Place, expose, process, and mount dental and carpal radiograph films.
- Apply sealants and topical fluoride.
- Polish crowns and amalgam restorations.
- Record procedures performed in the patient record.
- Instruct patients in oral hygiene care and perform remediable tasks as delegated in the Dental Practice Act, all in accordance with all relevant Federal, State, and professional standards.
- Prepare trays with the proper instruments for specified procedures; clean and sterilize instruments; and maintain equipment and operatory in a clean and orderly state.
- Participate on internal committees and attend required CHD meetings.
- Actively participate in the creation of an environment of positive teamwork with priority given to patient care responsibilities.
- Accurately complete Employee Activity Reports daily to be submitted on a weekly basis.
- Check and respond to emails on a minimum of every day.
Other related duties as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Willing to work before, during, and/or beyond normal work hours or days in the event of an emergency. Emergency duty required of the incumbent includes working in special needs shelter, or performing other emergency duties including, but not limited to, responses to or threats involving any disaster or threat of disaster, man-made or natural.
Licensed as a dental hygienist in accordance with Chapter 466, Florida Statutes.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Two (2) or more years of experience working with pediatric dental patients.
A bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college.
