Mission: The Link works with youth and young families to overcome the impacts of poverty and social injustice. Our 23 programs provide supportive housing, intensive case management services, and skills development to youth at risk of or experiencing homelessness, sex trafficking and/or involvement in the juvenile justice system. The Link prides itself on its innovative, youth-centered, strengths-based programming for youth and families as well as programs that are co-designed, implemented and overseen by youth.
Position Specifics
- Hiring Salary Range: $23.13 - $26.00/hour based on qualifications
- Job Type: Full-Time, Non-Exempt
- Location: Southwest Suburbs
- Hours/Days: Mon-Fri 9:00-5:00
Basic Function
The program’s goal is that parents will gain new skills to effectively parent their teens and be connected to appropriate community and other parents for support in order to ultimately help improve their teen’s behavior. This role is intended to work specifically with families who have been affected by human trafficking.
Duties and Responsibilities
Case Management
- Provide case management services to parents of victims of trafficking.
- Interview and assess clients.
- Facilitate 1:1 family culturally specific curriculum.
- Conduct home visits, connect clients to resources, and provide phone support.
- Provide necessary transportation for clients according to availability.
- Establish and maintain relationships with community, government agencies, and community members.
- Create safe and supportive relationships with clients.
Group Facilitation
- Provide follow-up phone calls and visits to support recruiting efforts.
- Facilitate culturally specific parenting groups.
- Facilitate case management 1:1's with parents and youth that are aligned with Safe Harbor protocol.
Administrative Responsibilities
- Report to supervisor regarding client progress.
- Keep updated records of all interactions with clients and any other contacts made on their behalf.
- Provide ongoing monitoring and reporting of client progress.
General Responsibilities
- Preserve the integrity of the programs and agency.

Requirements
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of African American culturally specific services and support.
- High degree of knowledge of Safe Harbor and human trafficking.
- Access to reliable transportation and ability to drive participants.
- Skilled in building relationships quickly.
- Clean driving record and no criminal background.
- Knowledge of systems navigation within the state of Minnesota.
- High level of attention to detail.
- Desire to continuously learn for personal and professional growth.
- Ability to work effectively with and relate to diverse populations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, especially for clients’ advocacy.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively organize, coordinate, track, and complete multiple tasks as well as adjust to changing priorities.
Education and Experience
- 1-2 years of relevant experience working with victims of trafficking.
- Experience in working with African American parents of teens.
- Experience in facilitating groups.
- Experience in completing intake and assessments of clients’ needs.
- Experience in providing 1:1 services and support that are African American culturally specific.
Working Conditions
- The employee is regularly required to talk or hear.
- The employee is frequently required to use manual dexterity for the use of objects, tools, or controls as well as visual acuity.
- The employee is required to stand; walk; sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- The employee must lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
- Work environment for this position includes offices, common, and residential space with a low to high noise level.
- Ability to work a variable schedule.
