The Donor Relations team creates and implements experiences and activities focused on expressing gratitude, sharing impact, and demonstrating accountability for our family of donors, at all giving levels. We seek to delight, inspire, and retain existing donors through traditional and digital donor communications, physical recognition, and in-person gatherings. Our efforts help the Philanthropy team provide exceptional donor experiences and effectively move major and transformational donors along the fundraising cycle.
What we offer
A full-time permanent position with a competitive hiring salary range between $62,000 to $72,000 per annum, depending on experience, qualifications, and relevant skills. The opportunity
We are hiring a Donor Impact Officer, a newly created position, to join a dynamic organization with dedicated and supportive colleagues and inspire the participation of a committed donor community in a milestone project – the redevelopment of the Richmond Hospital campus. This includes a new acute care tower, the Yurkovich Family Pavilion, which is anticipated to open in 2030.
Reporting to the Director, Donor Relations, the Donor Impact Officer contributes to our gratitude, acknowledgement, and stewardship programs to ensure all donors receive appropriate, consistent, and thoughtful recognition for their generosity. This role ensures that donors feel appreciated, delighted, and informed about their giving to RHF - ultimately connected to the impact of their generosity.
Responsibilities
- Develops, implements, and maintains a system for RHF’s impact reporting production schedule of annual stewardship reporting deliverables for donors at all levels of giving.
- Develops content for RHF's impact and accountability reporting including writing updates, progress reports in collaboration with the Director, Donor Relations, the Relationship Manager and the Associate Director, Marketing, ensuring deadlines are met and on budget.
- Develops, implements, and maintains engagement, recognition and stewardship activities that reflect donor giving milestones and RHF project milestones.
- Specifically reviews and updates all donor recognition production, approvals and installations bringing recommendations related to donor plaques, naming and donor wall updates to the Director, Donor Relations.
- Develops, writes, and obtains approvals for donor communication such as gratitude letters, e-mails, recognition pieces, event communications (invitations, thank-you notes, follow ups), video scripts, briefings and speaking notes that are consistent with RHF messaging and branding.
- Applies donor journey, fundraising cycle and other industry leading knowledge to ensure high standards across all donor relations-related projects and tasks.
- Seeks to understand and communicate which donor activities have the greatest impact through analyzing, tracking, and reporting on key metrics (KPIs).
- Tracks stewardship activities in RENXT.
What you offer
- University degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role in donor relations, fundraising, business, or journalism industries.
- An understanding of donor relations and the fundraising cycle.
- Experience working with donors, volunteers, health care professionals, board directors and external parties.
- Experience in non-profits and/or health care philanthropy preferred.
- Experience with RENXT or a similar CRM system.
- Working knowledge of video content platforms like Vidyard, ThankView to support the creation and production of gratitude messages is ideal.
- Strong writing skills with expertise in crafting clear, compelling, and persuasive content, including donor reports, progress updates, and various forms of recognition, that align with organizational branding and messaging.
- Project management skills with the ability to develop, implement, and maintain systems for impact reporting and stewardship, ensuring deliverables are completed on schedule and within budget.
- Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- A proactive self-starter who can work in a fast-paced, complex environment, easily adapt, and graciously respond to changing priorities.
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously, ensuring timely execution of reporting and recognition efforts.
- Has strong attention to detail yet understands the "big picture".
- Coachable, taking direction well as required.
- Exercises tact, discretion and good judgement when dealing with confidential and sensitive matters with a high degree of integrity and professionalism.
- Helps foster a culture of gratitude by nurturing relationships with team members, supporters, health care professionals, vendors, and volunteers.
- Proficiency in Cantonese and/or Mandarin considered an asset.
- Able to work outside of normal business hours as required.
