JOB SUMMARY: The Accounting Manager will oversee a team of accounting staff, ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of financial records by managing day-to-day accounting operations, analyzing financial data, preparing reports, supervising staff, and maintaining compliance with accounting regulations for all private clients. They will also help develop budgets, pro formas, forecasts, and projections for these and other entities.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Directly manage a team of accounting staff, assigning tasks, providing training, and evaluating performance.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Perform revenue and expense analysis and create charts, tables, graphs that explain the relationship between selected items.
- Compare results across providers, clinics, and clients as well as MGMA and HFMA metrics.
- Understand the importance of balance sheet reconciliation and tracking open items for proper resolution.
- Participate in the monitoring of physician compensation and calculation of periodic physician bonuses.
- Prepare accurate and timely financial reports.
- Collaborate with clinic operations personnel, physicians, and other finance team members to prepare budgets, pro formas, etc.
Accounts Payable:
- Use digitized invoice storage and retrieval products.
- Review and approve invoices for accuracy of expense allocations.
Accounts Receivable:
- Monitor balances due to EngageMED (from clients) for proper application of interest and late fees.
- Review fee schedules per client service agreements for proper billing by other EngageMED personnel.
Cash Flow Management:
- Monitor client bank balances daily to ensure adequate funds are available.
- Review client bank reconciliations for large or aged outstanding items and suggest appropriate resolution.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Strong Excel skills including the ability to successfully organize, summarize, and present analysis using large data sets, as well as strong working knowledge of various reporting tools such as Power BI and/or Tableau.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- The ability to maintain a high level of professional skepticism when reviewing financial reports is essential.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance is required. 5 years’ experience in healthcare with working knowledge of the healthcare industry and terminology is desired.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
