INDEPENDENT CREDIT RISK QUALITY CONTROL VICE PRESIDENT will be a critical member of an expanding area of focus for the Consumer Credit Engagement Oversight (CCEO) Team. The overall objective of this role is to proactively establish and execute an independent account/transaction level review program to ensure adherence to key elements of Retail Credit Risk (RCR) Policy. The focus area for this role will be Credit Operations activities within existing US Personal Banking credit product lines (Retail Banking, Mortgage, Cards). Further details are below:
Responsibilities:
- With input and regular feedback from Senior team members, establish and execute a framework for risk-based transaction sampling, tracing, and Quality Assurance assessment of:
- Credit Acquisitions Strategy Execution (application and policy/strategy exception decisioning)
- Existing Customer Management Strategy Execution (growth and exposure management programs)
- Build detailed test scripts, a risk-based statistical sampling process, calendar, and a set of review procedures appropriate for the level of assurance sought for each area of the scope above.
- Provide such testing with an eye to accuracy, consistency, and timeliness.
- Execute tests with limited, if any, engagement with 1st line operators/analysts to ensure independence.
- Build a base of knowledge and capabilities around key risk infrastructure/storage repositories to eliminate dependencies on 1st line operator/analyst engagement as well as provide for a more efficient retrieval of review results.
- Communicate results of transactional testing findings with 1st and 2nd line senior risk managers.
- Continuously explore opportunities to improve testing regimen, adopting best practices relative to strategies and tactics across the credit cycle.
Qualifications:
- 5 – 8 years of experience in Risk and/or Operations, or a risk control function (e.g. Compliance, Audit). Financial services industry experience is preferred.
- Knowledgeable in retrieving account/transaction level detail from data warehouses and systems of record with an eye for data quality/consistency comparisons to other Risk repositories.
- Knowledge of risk reporting and processes and understanding of risk stripes.
- Proven ability to partner with and constructively take feedback from internal/external auditors or external examiners and regulators.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Self-reliant oversight capabilities while also maintaining a challenge position for business improvement.
- Self-motivated with the ability to make decisions in absence of detailed instructions.
- Flexible, team-oriented with excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills.
- Proven ability to remain organized in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated interpersonal, organizational and analytic skills.

Bachelor's degree/University degree or equivalent experience
