Leveraging our inherent market intelligence is a critical component to Bunge’s success, particularly in the dynamic agricultural markets. This is the reason why Bunge has one of the largest economic analysis teams in the industry. Our analysis team is comprised of over 50 analysts worldwide who gather and analyze supply, demand, and other pertinent information. The global analysts work closely with global traders to help develop market theses that drive the company’s trading and risk decisions. The team covers global grains, oilseeds, biofuels, ocean freight, and livestock.
What You'll Be Doing:
The main responsibilities are to:
- Be an integral part of the long-term team that focuses on fundamental analyses of global agricultural commodity markets in the long-term horizon.
- Maintain and enhance data pipelines for ingesting and processing data on global supply, demand, and trade of agricultural commodities including grains, oilseeds, vegetable oils, etc.
- Collaborate and coordinate with internal research and commercial teams across functions for execution and improvement of proprietary global long-term forecasting models.
- Leverage advanced statistical, econometric, and data science tools to develop and enhance economic forecasting models and processes.
- Provide technical and analytical support to global team members for efficient data access and automated model processing for the long-term analyses.
- Provide documentation and assist to summarize/interpret research findings, draft reports and presentations, and generate global commodity market outlooks on a regular basis.
- Actively learn and grow understandings of the global agricultural commodity market functions and contribute to commercial discussions.
Skills/Experience Requirements:
Minimum Master’s degree in Agricultural Economics, Economics, Finance, Business Analyst, Physics, Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline in a quantitative field.
• Solid understanding of fundamentals of economics and basic economic concepts such as supply, demand, and price elasticities. Genuinely interested in agricultural commodity markets. Intellectually curious, creative, and problem-solving.
• 2+ years of working experience with Python. Familiar with essential Python packages for data analytics, such as pandas, numpy, matplotlib.
• High proficiency in MS Excel & PowerPoint. Knowledge of VBA & Excel Macros is a plus.
• Understanding of basic statistical concepts/tools such as ordinary least squares.
• Detail-oriented with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks to meet specific deadlines.
• Ability to collaborate with colleagues from diverse backgrounds.
• Effective oral and written communication skills with the ability to explain or demonstrate complex topics concisely.
