Controller (Construction)
Your Job Duties
- Lead and oversee the company finance and accounting operations.
- Oversee, manage, mentor and review the work of the finance and accounting team members (team of 4 including billing/accounts receivable, accounts payable and contracts administration and resource management) including performance management, evaluations, ongoing training and serving as back up when needed.
- Prepare and review the monthly WIP schedule, job costing and progress billings using information provided by the project management team.
- Oversee cash flow and perform active cash management/monitoring.
- Preparation of monthly financial statement package and analysis including review of financial statements, performing analysis for key metrics and presenting findings and recommendations to management.
- Work with banking relationships for all services, costs and line of credit activities as well as other finance and banking needs.
- Serve as primary relationship manager of Company third-party relationships with bankers, bonding agents, insurance and 401k vendors.
- Primary relationship with external CPA firm for tax planning, projections and annual review.
- Indirect oversight of Company IT functions and outsourced IT. Responsible for new systems implementation.
You will report directly to the Company Vice President providing value added financial information, accurate financial packages and mentorship to the accounting team.
Required Skills, Experience & Culture Fit
- Prior experience with construction accounting (including WIP and progress billing accounting) with a commercial, residential, subcontractor or general contractor.
- Enjoy leading a team, supervising, mentoring, inspiring and ensuring accountability.
- Strong general ledger accounting experience and skills – GAAP accounting, financial statement preparation and review.
- Nimble and enjoy working both strategically and rolling up your sleeves.
- CPA (certified public accountant) or CMA (certified management accountant).
Extras (Desired, Not Required)
- Experience with the Vista by Viewpoint software platform.
- Prior experience working in public accounting at a CPA firm.
- CCIFP designation or interest in obtaining it.
This is a 100% in-office role.
Compensation:
$130,000 - $160,000 per year plus annual incentive compensation potential.
