- Demonstrated knowledge and experience with administration of complex clinical trials.
- Thorough technical knowledge of State and Federal regulation, procedures and policies regarding clinical research billing & coding policy and applicable CMS Local and National Coverage Decisions.
- Ability to manage a significant volume of transactions and perform complex financial analysis and custom reporting.
- Excellent research and investigative skills with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Experience comprehending and interpreting scientific and medical literature for utilization in assessment of appropriate billing policy.
- Strong combination of analytical, technical, clinical, mathematical, financial and leadership skills, plus demonstrated excellent organizational skills and the willingness to assume responsibility readily.
- Quantitative skills to develop arithmetically and logically accurate data and translate into variable coherent reporting formats; select significant data for decision-making; analyze and resolve complex cost analysis and logical problems within an electronic financial information system, clinical trials database (Oncore preferred) and complex Excel workbooks.
- Demonstrated experience using advanced features in software programs and technological tools to analyze and solve difficult problems with multiple variables.
- Experience applicable to clinical research cost analysis, budget negotiation and clinical research administration.
- Strong communication skills to effectively communicate both orally and in writing with a wide diverse group of individuals.
Preferred Qualifications- Clinical Research Coordinator or similar prior experience.
- Knowledge and experience using automated financial systems to effectively manage a variety of projects and accounts from various funding sources.

Department OverviewThe Office of Clinical Research (OCR) within the UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center provides centralized services for protocol review and monitoring, regulatory affairs, study management, coordination with internal and external partners on study financial terms and arrangements, and oversees accounts receivable, financial projections and reporting on clinical studies. The OCR manages a portfolio of over 200 cancer clinical trials including industry-sponsored, institutionally sponsored, externally peer reviewed, and national group clinical trials.
Department Specific Job ScopeThe incumbent plays a critical role in the independent performance of compliance, technical, fiscal and administrative services required supporting cancer clinical trials, including Medicare Coverage Analysis (MCA) cost analysis and proposal development, negotiation of terms, medical record abstraction, clinical research billing compliance, invoicing, and financial reports. The Sr. Business Office Analyst promotes ethical and proper behavior in all matters related to OCR business operations and maintains effective controls that promote adherence to applicable laws, regulations, rules and guidelines regarding Federal, State and Private health services in the performance of clinical research.
