General Position Scope:
This is the Senior Credit Analyst position. The responsibility of this position is to ensure a high level of credit quality by performing, supporting, and providing guidance on a wide range of functions related to Credit Analysis Department services, especially those that are more complex in nature and/or require ongoing monitoring. These functions are typically performed independently based on overall department objectives required by the manager. The person in this position will be supervisor to other Credit Analysts as determined by the Manager.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assists Manager with maintaining daily departmental work log for credit analysis requests submitted by lenders.
- Evaluate quality of borrower and guarantor financial information obtained by loan officers and submitted for analysis to determine overall adequacy and accuracy of information.
- Prepare “spreads” of financial statement information obtained to determine need for additional clarification and depth of analysis required.
- Prepare custom spreadsheets, as needed, related to analysis of specialized borrower types and/or unique credit requests (i.e. asset based lending, agricultural, real estate, non-profit, etc.).
- Review and analyze all available financial and credit information related to borrowers/guarantors.
- Promptly communicate analysis questions and/or underwriting concerns to Lenders, Senior and/or Credit Analysis Department Manager.
- Prepare written summary of analysis (credit memo) to be used by lenders in making credit decisions (especially those credits involving the most complex Global Cash Flow analysis and/or involving very specialized borrower types/loan transactions).
- Provide lenders with current industry information and other reports using available third-party resources, including Equifax Business Solutions, IBIS World Reports and others.
- Assist manager with the monitoring of various financial monitoring reports and work with lenders to obtain updated/current financial information from customers in order to maintain ongoing credit quality and in preparation for loan renewals or annual reviews.
- Assist manager with monitoring borrower compliance with loan agreement financial requirements/covenants, and report variances/violations to appropriate lending/credit management personnel.
- Assist and consult with manager in the development of resources, policies, and procedures related to underwriting and credit analysis.
- Maintain a thorough knowledge of Bank products, services, policies, procedures and appropriate regulatory issues as related to daily job functions including but not limited to: Bank Secrecy Act; Privacy Act; Fair Lending Act; Regulation E, etc. Complete required compliance training and adhere to the Bank’s standard of conduct.
- Stay informed of current bank credit policies and procedures.
- Stay informed of current practices in loan underwriting, accounting, economics, and credit analysis.
- Communicate and interact in a professional manner with external and internal customers (i.e., Line of Business Chiefs, Senior Lenders, Loan Officer/Lending Relationship Specialist, Loan Review, Loan Operations, etc.) when performing daily functions via telephone, e-mail, and/or in person.
- Participate in the bank’s High-Performance Rewards Connections program.
- Make referrals to the Mortgage Center and Wealth Management.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements:
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree from a nationally accredited business school (preferably AACSB) with a major in accounting and/or finance.
- Areas of experience required: 5-10 years Commercial loan credit analysis, financial statement spreading software, and financial statement analysis.
- Ability to work well in a team environment, follow policies and procedures, handle multiple responsibilities, think creatively to solve complex problems, and be detail-oriented, organized, and accurate.
- General computer and typing experience with Microsoft Office Suite, to include Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Extensive reading as needed.
- Ability to make difficult decisions and handle multiple tasks.
